THE UNIVERSITY THANKS ITS FRIENDSFOR THEIR SUPPORT

The University owes much of its stature to private gifts. Researchstudies by the academic staff and graduate assistants are made possible,in large measure, by such grants. Special teaching projects are sup-ported or assisted by bequests. Many scholarships, prizes and bur-saries have been provided by individual benefactors, alumni, firms, foundations and associations. Some of the major buildings on thecampus, as well as a wide variety of other projects, serve as lastingtestimony to the work of those who helped build U.B.C.

The basic support of the University is provided by student feesand by grants from the Province of British Columbia and theGovernment of Canada. The excellence of the education it offers, however, depends to a great extent on added support received fromfriends. These private benefactors, during the past year, donated$4,724,583.00.

With twelve faculties, seven schools and four institutes, the needsof the University are many and varied. Support is welcome in everyarea of teaching, research and student aid. However, as the needsand priorities of the University change we welcome early opportuni-ties to discuss with donors the form their support might take. Nogift is too small - and none too large - to be of value.
