Bloomberg Businessweek Heather Carpenter, +1-212-617-1661

In 1981 Bloomberg started out with one core belief: that bringing transparency to capital markets through access to information could increase capital flows, produce economic

growth and jobs, and significantly reduce the cost of doing business. Today’s Bloomberg builds on that foundation - everything we do connects decision makers in business, finance

and government to a broad and dynamic network of information, news, people and ideas that enables faster, more effective decisions.

T. Boone Pickens

Mesa Petroleum, Founder BP Capital, Founder

Jay Rosser 214-265-4165 [email protected]

In 2007, T. Boone Pickens created a privately held company, Mesa Power Group, LLC., to develop and finance wind and other renewable energy power projects. Mesa Power, based in Dallas, Texas, contracts with several outside consultants. Mesa's employees and consultants have a wide range of experience and expertise in wind, solar, and other alternative energy

activities. Pickens, who attracted national attention in July 2008 by launching the Pickens Plan, a grass-

roots internet, multi-media and personal appearance campaign that seeks a comprehensive

energy plan to lessen the U.S. dependence on foreign oil, brings more than 50 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He is the founder of Mesa Petroleum, an independent

producer of natural gas and oil, and BP Capital, a private investment firm focusing on investments in energy futures and stocks of public companies in various energy sectors and

energy dependent industries. For "his vision and leadership in moving the wind industry forward," the American Wind Energy Association named Pickens its 2009 Industry Person of

the Year. Boone’s Letter to the Pickens Plan Army

When we started the Pickens Plan campaign, oil prices were at an all time high. The Pickens Plan was meant to be a comprehensive energy plan for how to use our country’s resources and technology to reduce our staggering dependence on OPEC oil. As I’ve said before: I’m

for everything American, and there was a lot of focus particularly on my interest in renewable energy — wind and solar — to generate electricity, and in natural gas to fuel

trucks, buses and fleets. Together, we made important progress on wind power — Congress included in last year’s

stimulus bill incentives to help develop more renewable energy and get it online. While my wind farm in Pampa has had delays, I am engaged in wind development initiatives in the U.S. and Canada, and many others have answered the call and started erecting their own

turbines. Thanks to what we did as part of the Pickens Plan, there are wind farms already in development from Texas all the way up to North Dakota.

Wind is a big part of America’s future, as are all American energy sources, but it can’t reduce our dependence on OPEC oil — to do that you have to address our imported oil use in transportation. That is why I have been urging Congress and the President to enact policies to

help get trucks, buses and fleets running on clean, abundant and domestic fuels, such as natural gas.

We need to start using our abundant natural gas resources to reduce our ever-escalating dependence on OPEC oil and the threat it poses to our national security and economy. With oil again nearing $100 a barrel, the need has never been greater and the opportunity never

larger.

Pierre and Pam Omidyar eBay, Founder (Pierre) HopeLab, Chairwoman

Whitman Campus 2065 Hamilton Avenue

San Jose, California 95125 (800) 322-9266 (408) 376-7400

On Labor Day weekend in 1995, computer programmer Pierre Omidyar wrote the code for what he called an "experiment": What would happen if everyone in the world had equal

access to a single global marketplace? Pierre tested his new auction website by posting a broken laser pointer, which he was about

to throw away. And to his surprise, a collector bought it for $14.83. The sale of a broken laser pointer was the beginning of a radical transformation in commerce.

eBay is a remarkably efficient market created by connecting individuals who wouldn't otherwise be connected. It was the world's first example of online social networking. While skeptics questioned whether people would trust doing business with strangers online, Pierre firmly believed that people are basically good, and that any issues would work themselves

out by the community. Since then, eBay has grown to have a presence in 39 markets (including partnerships and

investments) with more than 90 million eBay.com users worldwide, trading more than $1,900 worth of goods each second. In 2002, the eBay community made it clear that they

preferred using PayPal as an online payment method. So eBay acquired PayPal, which brought new efficiencies to e-commerce and redefined possibilities for eBay's future.

The company has since expanded by acquiring innovative businesses, such as Shopping.com, StubHub, Bill Me Later and others, which have positioned the company as the global leader

in e-commerce and payments. Building on Pierre's entrepreneurial legacy, eBay continues to passionately believe in the potential of technology to connect people around the world. Read more about our global

portfolio of businesses and how we continue to support entrepreneurship.

the Pittsburgh region by evaluating and addressing community issues, promoting responsible philanthropy and connecting donors to the critical needs

of the community. The Foundation’s policy governing its unrestricted or discretionary grantmaking

was revised under the Foundation’s strategic plan in 2009, with the creation of three new funding categories designed to capture all of the community’s charitable programming

needs. Its five Target Areas of Impact introduced nearly seven years previously, were

replaced by integrating the key issues of environment, economics, and social equity into its three new funding guideline categories: Self Sufficient Individuals and Families,

Healthy Communities, and A Vibrant Democracy.

The first includes education, affordable housing, public transportation, healthy children and adults and job development. Healthy Communities covers ecological issues,

the creation of safe communities, cultural and racial diversity, creative arts and the encouragement of excellence in civic design. A Vibrant Democracy includes civic

engagement and the research and dissemination of information around critical community issues, designed to inform and shape public policy.

Additional areas are included for grantmaking through the Foundation’s donoradvised, designated, fields of interest, scholarship, medical research and responsiveness

funds.

The mission of YoungArts, a program of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, is to identify emerging artists and assist them at critical junctures in their educational and professional development, and to raise the appreciation for, and support of, the arts in

To expand its national presence and increase awareness and support for YoungArts across the United States. YoungArts

accomplishes this through the expansion of regional programs, the engagement of high-value partners, the creation of an Education Advisory Council and Artistic Advisory Council and

by positioning alumni and Presidential Scholars as ambassadors for the organization.

To emphasize experiences. Through the various YoungArts programs and master classes the organization is creating

experiences that students will draw upon for the rest of their lives. As one alumna eloquently said:

“With each day that I draw and paint, I feel stronger and more confident about my decision to pursue art as a career, and a large portion of my growing artistic convictions come from

my experiences at YoungArts week.” – Paige Chin, 2007 Winner in Visual Arts
