The awards come as 38,000 Scouts from across the world descend on the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden. Other big names to get their own badge include Harry Potter star Emma Watson, cyclist James Cracknell, and music sensation Adele. Bloom’s Musketeer take-away ORLANDO Bloom has taken home the costumes he sported in the new The Three Musketeers movie, as they’ll make the perfect fancy dress outfits for son Flynn when he grows up. The actor donned a series of intricate 17th-century period garments for his role as the Duke of Buckingham in the 3D re-imagining of Alexandre Dumas’s classic tale. Bloom, who is married to Australian model Miranda Kerr, will hand down the costumes to Flynn, who was born in January. Peppers heat up Venice Beach THE Red Hot Chili Peppers stunned locals in Venice Beach, California, by rocking out on a rooftop for a promotional video shoot. The rockers ventured to new heights on Saturday to film a video for their upcoming single, The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie. A few fans were lucky enough to catch the performance after bassist Flea told his Twitter followers about the shoot just before it kicked off. Kings are sick to the core KINGS of Leon singer Caleb Followill is suffer- ing from vocal problems and exhaustion, forcing the band to cancel its US tour. Promoter Live Nation announced the cancel- lation in a news release on Monday, three days after Followill left the stage mid-show in Dallas due to the heat. Followill’s exit led to vows by his brothers, Nathan and Jared, and cousin Matthew on Twit- ter, to replay the show. But Jared Followill also acknowledged the band has ‘‘internal sicknesses and problems’’ that go beyond dehydration that must be addressed. A statement says the band is ‘‘devastated, but in order to give their fans the shows they de- serve, they need to take this break’’. They’ll re- turn to the road in Vancouver on Septem- ber 28. Kings of Leon are scheduled to tour Aust- ralia in November. Red Dog a tale full of heart Actor Josh Lucas and the real star of the show, Koko the dog, in a scene from Red Dog OUTSIDE the mining town of Dampier in Western Australia sits a bronze statue of a local hero who became a legend: a kelpie cal- led Red Dog. Kriv Stenders’ latest film is a broad comedy that brings to life the folktale of Red Dog, who brought Dampier together when it was newly established in the 1970s. It’s told in a series of flash- backs to a young truck driver (Luke Ford) who stops in at the local pub, where Red Dog is on his last legs. Publican Jack (Noah Taylor) reminisces about how he found the wandering kelpie, who be- came renowned for his putrid farts, ability to hitchhike and run-ins with the villainous Red Cat. The real warmth of the movie is found through the American wanderer John (Josh Lucas), who becomes Red Dog’s true master. John and Red Dog’s friendship is like an absurd love story, but one that’s more heartfelt than John’s relationship with Nancy (Rachael Taylor). A short sequence featuring home videos of Red Dog, Nancy and John is one part of this true story that actually feels real, among all the loud jokes and characters. This is thanks in no small part to the silent star of the film, Koko the dog, who is re- markably expressive and has a personality that shines through. Also featured in small cameos are Bill Hunter, in one of his final film roles, as well as Oscar- nominated New Zealand actress Keisha Castle-Hughes. Red Dog is a very bright and colourful film, which matches the overall bubbly tone of the story. If you’re keen to watch some- thing with a lot of depth, save Red Dog for another time. But it’s good, clean family fun for kids who will like the gags and parents who will feel nostalgic. Red Dog is released in cinemas on August 4. Police quiz Urban LOS ANGELES: Keith Urban is facing police questions after a pho- tographer accused the Aussie country singer of banging and kicking his car. Urban and wife Nicole Kidman were leaving a restaurant in Nashville, Tennessee when photographer Willem Pieterson at- tempted to take pic- tures of the couple. Pieterson alleges Ur- ban became angry at him and ‘‘kicked’’ his car door in retaliation. Metropolitan Na- shville Police Depart- ment spokesman Don Aaron told GossipCo- p.com the photogra- pher filed a police re- port on the incident. ‘‘Pieterson alleges Urban yelled at him and banged on his win- dow and got out and banged on Pieterson’s car with his fist and kicked the rear passen- ger door,’’ Aaron said. He said police had looked at Pieterson’s car door and found no damage. ‘‘Follow up is being conducted to sort out the detail of this matter,’’ he said.
