Fuller Center for Housing Armenia Build Trip June 26, 2017 to July 7, 2017 Leo & Sona Manuelian Welcome to a summer vacation that is unique and joyful at the same time! A volunteer build trip where you truly get to help a family. A family who is in dire need of decent housing. Armenia is a country that you will never forget. Its people are warm and loving. Armenia is rooted in ancient culture, declaring its Christianity as its national religion in 301 AD. We look forward to having volunteers, such as yourself and/or family, join Leo Manuelian and his wife Sona as they embark on a glorious and fulfilling goodwill journey to Armenia. Our work consists of a bucket line, some painting and perhaps spackling. The journey begins with your arrival at the Yerevan airport, where the Fuller people will take you to the hotel. After unpacking you may want to walk around the city and see some of the sites. Yerevan itself is a typical cosmopolitan city. In the main square they have a nightly water show where the fountains dance to lights and music. The next morning we are driven to the FCHA offices. There we are given an introduction to the country, FCHA staff, homeowner family make-up, safety instructions, the work FCHA does and why it is needed. We will then be taken to the work site and introduced to the family. Finally begins our contribution of helping to complete a decent home. There have been many who have joined us on these trips. Ages ranging from thirteen (with consent form) to mid-seventies. There is no hard labor involved. There are many work breaks along with lunch and then Armenian coffee (reading of grinds upon request) along with fresh fruit and sweets. Our work days are offset with tour days. We visit many cultural sites that are breath taking. Many sites over a thousand years old. Mt. Ararat stands majestically on the border of Armenia. This image I promise you will keep with you forever in your hearts and your minds. We work, we eat, we tour, we sing, we dance and we shop. Sometimes we sleep. If you have a bucket list, this trip should be at the top of it. Leo Manuelian your trip leader and his wife both speak Armenian. The staff from FCHA speak English as well. We look forward to having you join us!
