Fromthebeginning,thisen/reoutreachwasadooropenedbyGod.Jillandasmallwomen’steamhadspentabout2weeksinMarch2014(onasortofscou/ngtrip)tryingtodetermineifweweretobringoneofourCurrentforWomeneventstotheEnglish-speakingmissionariesandChris/an

workersofChiangMai,thehubofmanymissions’organiza/onsinSEAsia.Duringthatscou/ngtrip,aNer

speakingataGraceInterna/onalSchoolchapel,wewere unexpectedlyinvitedtopresenttheschool’s2015

SpiritualEmphasisWeek.Asallthedetailscametogether,God’sinvita/ontousbecameclear.“Come,joinMeinwhatI’mdoinghere.”

TheteamHeputtogetherforuswasamazing–agroupofnineindividualswhowereeagerandwillingtobeusedbyGod’sSpiritinwhateverwaysHeled.Webeganbyhos/nga24hourprayersurgeforthe300students,parentsandstaffofGISandthenoffered4daysofteaching,worshipledbyErinandTrevor,lunch/meworkshops,interac/vereflec/onsta/ons,hang-out/mesaNerschoolatthecoffeeshopacrossthestreet,andprayerministry/mesaNereachoftheeveningsessions.Itwassomuchfun!!Thethemewas“300:IAMwithYou,”basedonGideon’sstoryinJudges6-7,andJillpresented8sessions–bothmorningandevening–onreceivingGod’slove,hearingGod’svoice,trus/ngHisheartandcatchingthewindofHisSpirit.

Itwasabsolutelydelighaultoseethesepreciouskidsrespond–wakinguptothetruththatGodLOVESthem,KNOWSthem,delightsinthem,isREALLYWITHTHEM.KidsbeganhearingGod’sVoiceandbeingfilledupwithjoyastheyexchangedtheheavinessofdutyforthelightnessandsa/sfac/onofrealrela/onshipwiththeOneWhoknowsthemandmadeawayforthemrightintoHisheartthroughthebloodofJesus.Thewholeexperiencewasbeyondwhatwecouldhaveevenimaginedhonestly–anEphesians3:20experience!“Iwilldoexceedingly,abundantlybeyondwhatyoucouldevenaskorimagine.”Beyond,beyond!!

Current for Women, THAIInearlyFebruary,Jill,JeanandEmie,alongwithmissionaryfriendsCarmenOwenandCynthiaFriesen,metwithAjarn(ThaiforTeacher/Pastor)Wannapa,pastor’swifeatGraceChaowfaChurch,tosharetheheartbehindCurrentforWomen.ItwasourdesiretoofferamodifiedversionofCurrent,completelytranslatedintoThaiandfreeofchargeforThai-speakingwomen.

AjarnWannapaquicklycaughtthevisionandsheandtheladiesfromherchurchbeganprayingforandinvi/ngfriends,family,coworkers,andneighbors–believersandnon-believers-toamendthiswomen’sevent,setforMarch9-10.Theseladieswerebelievingfor50womentoamend.HowshockedanddelightedtheywereaswomenpouredintotheirlimlechurchonMondaynight,March9–fillingittocapacitywith92women!!

AswithallC4Wevents,ourgoalwastocreateasafespaceandun-rushed/meforwomentobeabletopausefromthebusynessoflife,listenforGod’sVoicetothem,andreceiveHislife-givingtouch.ThroughworshipandtheWord,tes/monyandbeau/ful,reflec/onsta/ons,wesimplysetthestage.Createdthespace.AndGoddidtherest!!HecameandfilledthatplacewithHisPresenceandamazingthingshappened!!About8womengavetheirlivestoJesusfortheveryfirst/me.Manyotherscameforwardforprayerforhealingofbrokenbodies,lostlovedones,woundedmarriages,deepfearandneedforconnec/on.

OnewomanJillprayedwithexpressedadeepdownacheshe’dcarriedherwholelife.Neverknowingtheloveofamotherorfather,she’dsurvivedthroughtheyearsbyshovingherpaindownandpuqngemphasisonsuccess–achievingmuchinthefieldofacademicsandpouringhugeamountsof/meandenergyintohelpingothers.Butthatnightsheexpressedthroughsobsherdeepdownexhaus/onandloneliness.“Itfeelslikethere’salidonthetopofmyheadthatmakesitimpossibleformetoreceivelove–frompeopleandevenfromGod.Please…Iwanttobefree.”Astheyprayedtogether,God’sSpiritgentlyyetspecificallypin-pointedtheblockage,ledhertoaplaceofrelease,andthenfilledherupwithHislove,likeabalm.Itwasmiraculous!!BothsheandJillknewGodhaddoneit!InthepeaceandsweetnessofthemomentsaNer,thispreciouswomanwhispered,“Doyouthinkit’spossiblefora60yearoldwomantorunoutanddanceinthefieldsandflowers–becausethatiswhatIamdoinginmyheart!”Honestly,WhoislikeourGod?!!Healonehasthewordsoflife!!

Whentheideaofhos/ngaCurrentforWomeninChiangMai,Thailandwasfirstbirthedinourheartsacoupleofyearsago,ouroverwhelminglongingwasforthesewomen–full/meworkerswhopouroutdayaNerdaytoapeopleofadifferentcultureandlanguage–totrulybeabletocomeawayandreceiveinthedeepestpartsoftheirheartsarest,refreshment,and“known-ness”thatonlyGod’sSpiritcangive!!WefelttheLavishLoveofGodpouringthroughusaswe“created”themee/ngspaceattheHorizonResortwheretheweekendwasbeingheld–seqngupthebeau/fulreflec/onsta/ons,rehearsingthemusicanddances,prayingovereveryseat…WewereoverwhelmedwithGod’sloveforthewomencoming.Throughouttheen/reevent,GodextravagantlypouredoutHisin/mateloveonthesefaithfulones.

Oneamendee,aThaipastor’swife(Americanbornherself),whomwehadtheprivilegeofscholarshippingtotheweekendwrotethisaNerwards:“IwasthankfulforGod’sreminderthatIamKNOWN,wonderfullymade,blessedandguidedbyHim.Ihadtheimageofmymombeingpregnantwithmeandherloveforme,andheran/cipa/onofmebeingborn.ThisledtomethinkingabouthowGodalsolovesmeandcelebratesmeasHischild.IfeltGodsaythatHealwaysknewIwouldliveinThailandandhavemyfamilyhere.Heislovingmeineveryseason.Heiswithme.HeagaininvitedmetotrustHimasallHisplansunfold…Thankssomuchformakingitpossibleformetoamend…Ifeltsoblessed…pampered…likeaprincess.”

FSM BIOLA TEAM 2015BiolaEnrichmentDays,begunbyLiciaClarkin2009,isasummermusicprogramforthechildrenofBiola,CA(atownof1600mostlyseasonalfarmworkersnearFresno,CA).Licia’sdesireistoseetheseat-riskkidsopenuptheirheartsandmindstothepossibilityofalifebeyondtheirpresentcircumstances,inspiringthemthroughtheloveofJesustobreakthecycleofpovertyandganglife.OurteamfirstcamealongsideLiciainthesummerof2014,anddidwhatwedoineveryoutreachwe’reapartof:putGod’sheartondisplay.Thispastsummer,fromJuly13-31,wewentbacktoBiolawithateamof15amazingvolunteers,lovingonthesweetchildrenofBiola–onehundredfiNeen5-18year-olds-throughteachingmusicanddance,makingcraNs,playinggames,andtakingadvantageofteachablemomentstopourintheloveofJesus.WeusedtheCSLewisbook,TheLion,theWitchandtheWardrobe,asthebasisforourthemethisyear:“CreatedforWonder:Des/nedtoSeek,Des/nedtoKnow”.TheallegoricalnatureofthebookanditsmanyparallelstotheGospelstorygaveuscountlessopportuni/esformeaningfulconversa/ons.Star/ngrightwhereweleNofflastsummer,thesechildrenopenedtheirheartstousandtotheMessageofGod’sLove.Andtheycrawledrightbackintoourheartsinturn!They–norwe–willeverbethesame!!

wokeupafewmorningsago.Itwass/lldarkoutside.Iwasimmediatelyawareof3wordsbeingspokentomysoul.

“ILoveYou.”Period.Nowordsofinstruc/onorcondi/on.Justadeepsenseofbelonging.Ofbeingknown.LikeGodwasaskingmetojustsitwithHimthereinthequietandjust“be”.

Lovethrowsoutfear.Whenwe’vereallycomeincontactwithLove,trulybeenembracedbyLove,feardoesn’tevenoccurtousanymore.It’snotevenonourradar.Andwe’refilledupwithasenseofinvigora/on,likewecandoanything!

Thisspringwasbusy!TheplanwasformetoflyouttoThailandtojoinTeam1fortheGraceInterna/onalSchoolOutreach.ThenIwastoflyhome,spend10dayswithourtwoyoungestdaughters,andhopbackonanotherplanetoThailandtojoinTeam2inhos/ngourThailandCurrentforWomenEventsinChiangMai.

Thefirstpartoftheplancametogetherbeau/fully.ButjustbeforegeqngontheplanetoheadtoThailandforthesecond/me,IlearnedthatmymotherwaslosingherbamlewithcancerandIfeltaprofoundneedtobe“home”.

InsteadofflyingtoThailand,IflewtoNewfoundland.

Thereisnootherplaceonearthlikeit.Noplacesouniqueandimportantforme.Ifoundmyselfbackatmybeginnings.Iwassleepinginmyoldroom,lyinginmyoldbed,staringupatthesameceilingandlookingoutthesamewindowIhadasaboywhenGodfirstbegans/rringmyheart.

Hetookmebacktothebeginning-totheplaceinmyheartwhereIfirstsaidyestoHim,whereHisLovecap/vatedme,andwhereHespoketomeofmydes/nytogivemylifeaway.

Asa17-yearoldkid,Iusedtospendhoursprocessingtheses/rringsinmyheartwithmymom.NowhereIwasatage51andshewasspeakingthesamewordsovermeasshe’dspokentomeasaboy.Remindingme…

“Doyouknowwhoyouare,Geoff?Doyouknowwhyyouarealeader?Youareloving.Youarekind.Youlovepeople.Youfeeltheirpain.Godmadeyouthatway.Don’tbeafraid,Geoff.Don’tbediscouraged.Justbeyourself.HelovesyouandHe’sgonnatakecareofyou.”

DayaNerday,forthreemonthsthisspring,shespokethosewordsoverme.Sheprobablyhadnoideawhatshewasdoing.ButwiththosewordscamearefreshingtomysoulthatIcanhardlyexplain.

ItwasnothingIdid.ItwasclearlyHimsteppingintomyworld,sayinganddoingwhatHeknewIneeded.Whythen?Ifeelitwassimplythefullnessof/me.AsifGodweresaying,“NOW!”andallthingscametogetheratjusttherightmomentformetohearandreceive.

Somanythanksforallofthecards,emailsandencouragingnotesfromsomanypeople.Ourheartsweretrulytouchedbyyourloveandthough;ulness,anditmadethegrievingprocessmuchmoreendurableaswesaidgoodbyetomymom.Andthankyoutothoseofyouwhogaveaspecialgi2tohermemorialfund,setuptobenefittheongoingworkofFSM.Wemissherdearly.SomedaysitsElldoesn’tseemrealthatshe’snothere.Buttheloveshelivedandthegraceshefreelygaveencouragesus.“Bestrong,Havecourage.Don’tbeafraid.AndtrustGod…nomaVerwhat.”Loveyoumom.Seeyouwhenwecatchup.

Twoyearsago,youmayrememberthatGodhadhighlightedaScripturetoJillandIfromIsaiah43:18-19:“Forgettheformerthings;donotdwellonthepast.See,Iamdoinganewthing!Nowitspringsup;doyounotperceiveit?Iammakingawayinthedesertandstreamsinthewasteland.”

HeseemedtobeemphasizingthatHEwastheOnedoingthenewthingandourswasjusttowatchHimandrelaxintowhatHewasabouttodo!

OnAugust29-30ofthisyear,ourFSMBoardofDirectorsgatheredfor2daysofgroundbreakingmee/ngs.ANerlisteningintentlytoourhearts,prayingwithus,andpar/cipa/nginlengthydiscussions,ourBoardunanimouslyrecommended2thingstous:1)Re-focusourministryvision,and2)Shoreupourprayerandfinancialsupportforthenext2yearsofministryahead.AllinadesiretocooperatewithGodandprepareourselvesfortheNewSeasonthatHeisunfolding!

1) Purpose:Crea/ngeventsthatinspirein/macywithGod

2) Target:Spirituallyhungrypeople

3)Why:Toprovidesafespaceandunrushed/meforpeopletoexperiencelife-changingconnec/onwithGod

4) How:Throughbeau/fullycraNedseqngs,ar/s/cexpressions,life-affirmingteachingsfromtheWord,reallifestories,reflec/onsta/ons,andprayerministry

Nowourfocusisshoringupourprayerandfinancialsupportforthetwoyearsahead.Ourgoalistocompletelyraiseouropera/ngbudgetfor2016and2017,crea/ngaspringboardintothefuture.Duringtheupcomingmonths,wewillbepuqngallofoureffortandenergyintoMissionaryIQneraQon-a/mewhenwewillbereconnec/ngwithcurrentandpoten/alsupportersfromallovertheUSandCanada–individualswhowillpartnerwithustolaunchthisnextphaseofministry.Welookforwardtomee/ngoneononewithmanyofyouoverthenextfewmonths!
