Scope of Document: This document helps us to understand the steps to be followed to schedule any process

chain. There are various types of scheduling like immediate, Date/time, After Job, after Event, at operationmode, Workday/Time (>>).

    Job Start Conditions Explanation

Immediate This job will start as soon as possible, subject to job priority and theavailability of background work processes.Users granted the appropriate authorizations for background processing canhave their jobs released automatically as soon as they are scheduled, withoutspecial attention from a system administrator.

Date/time The job will start at the date and time specified, subject to job priority andthe availability of background work processes. You can further define a timeframe in which the job will run by specifying atime later than which a job will not run. One use of this feature is to preventperiodic jobs from running when they should not. For example, a routineclean-up job scheduled to run only at night is delayed. By defining a start-timewindow, you will keep this job from being started during the day, when dialogusers are active and fewer system resources are available.

After Job The job will start on the completion of the specified job. You can specifywhether the preceding job must complete successfully or not.Note: Jobs scheduled to start when a preceding job completes cannot bespecified as "Periodic jobs".

After Event The job is triggered by the specified event, descriptions of which follow. This start condition lets you define a sequence of individual jobs to modelcomplex activities in your system.

For example, a data transfer program that generates a batch-input sessioncan, once the session has been completely generated, use an event to triggeranother job that processes the session.

At operation mode The job will start when the specified operation mode becomes active in theSAP System.

Workday/Time (>>) The job will start on the specified day of the month (for example, the third tolast day of the month)By specifying the appropriate SAP factory calendar, your scheduling canaccommodate the occurrence of holidays or other non-workdays.You can further specify how the job should be handled if the start day landson a non-working day. For example, you can have the job started on theworkday before or after the actual scheduled date, or allow the job run in

anyway, or have the job be skipped on that day entirely.Verify that the calendar you choose has been correctly defined. If, forexample, the calendar ends with the current year and your job is to be startednext year, the job will terminate abnormally. If a calendar problem occurs, you can review systems error messages in the job log of the terminated job.

In this case, we have taken the example ofDate/Time Scheduling and After Event Scheduling.

First we will reschedule the data layer process chain of Banking Services (ZBSMETACHAIN) using Date/Timescheduling. Then we will reschedule the reporting layer process chain of banking services(GBS_EDW_TO_ADM_DAILY) using After Event scheduling.

    Date/Time Scheduling

Step1: Open the process chain in RSPC or RSPC1

There are two ways of opening the process chain. If we know the name of the process chain to berescheduled, go to transaction RSPC1.

Enter the name of the process chain.

Step2: After entering the process chain name, click on execute. Process chain will open.

But if we dont know the name of the chain then we can use transaction RSPC to search for it. Search for therequired chain by opening the corresponding node.

Below screen will open after execution of transaction RSPC.

    After Event Scheduling

We will reschedule the reporting layer process chain of banking services (GBS_EDW_TO_ADM_DAILY).Reporting layer process chain run depends on the event raised in data layer processing chain. As the eventwill be raised in data layer process chain, the processing of reporting layer process chain will start. So wewill schedule the reporting layer process chain after the event is raised in data layer process chain.

Step1: To reschedule the process chain, right click on process step Start, click on Display Variant.

Step2: After clicking on Display Variant, below screen will appear. Go to edit mode and click on ChangeSelections Tab.
