Thank you to everyone that has been following our COVID-19 guidelines and procedures. These will continue until 30 July and please make sure we continue to follow these guidelines for the safety of our children, staff and com- munity. Zone Athletics Last Wednesday 18 students travelled to Medowie to compete in the Zone Athletics field events as well as the 800m and 1500m. On a very gloomy and cold day, our Shoal Bay students all performed very well. Special mentions to Isaac S, Niku S, Nash S and Dash L who all finished in the first two places in their event to qualify for the Hunter Athletics Carnival (if it is able to go ahead). Many other students finished just outside qualification, in 3rd or 4th place. Our students displayed determination, sportsmanship and fantastic behaviour for the whole day and were outstanding representatives of our school. We would like to thank all the parents for their understanding and co-operation with the COVID-19 restrictions on the day, your support was appreciated. Peter Ham- shaw and Jason Crowley. Stage 2 Excursion Last Thursday Stage 2 went on a walking excursion to sketch the coast line of Shoal Bay Beach. This term in History we are learning about our local environment and this was a great start to the unit. We saw lots of amazing things such as birds, boats and the jetty. It was really fun being able to sit in the shade while chatting to your friends and sketch- ing the coast line. The view was amazing with all the natural features right in front of us. We are very lucky for our school to be placed in such a wonderful area. Written by Shae and Piper in Stage 2.

Volunteers There will be no volunteers allowed in the classroom or onsite such as parent helpers or rotary readers. Only essential visitors will be allowed on the school site and will sign on using the QR code and sign on sheet located in the office. We can still run meetings for wellbeing reasons. You must be invited to this meeting so we can meet health requirements. Any essential worker will need to show proof of address. If the worker is from the Fairfield Local Government Area (LGA) they will need to get tested every three days. This procedure will also be for workers who live in the Greater Sydney area, however they will need to get tested every 7 days and show proof before working on school grounds. Attending School Children are expected to be at school unless they are unwell. Any child with any COVID-19 symptoms will be sent home and not return to school unless they have isolated for 10 days, when no medical certificate is available, or they have a negative COVID-19 test result and are symptom free. Further information around COVID-19 Further information on COVID-19 is available on NSW Health website and the NSW Government Education website listed below. https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Pages/default.aspx. https://education.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/advice-for-families/schools-outside-of-greater-sydney1.
