Awareness event: Earth Observation for Sustainable Agricultural Development
27th September 2018 | MC13-121 World Bank, Washington DC
EO4SD Project Consortium, presented by Annemarie Klaasse
Demonstrations• Spatial Agents by Nagaraja Rao Harshadeep
• Ag Observatory by Caroline Sartorato Silva Franca
• FAO WaPOR by Livia Peiser
• Sentinel Playground
• EO4SD’s EO4SD.Lizard.net

Sentinel Playground:
• easy-to-use discovery and exploring of full-resolution Sentinel-2 imagery and access to the EO data products
• graphical interface to a complete and daily updated Sentinel-2 archive
Sentinel Playground is a great application for anyone interested in the latest satellite imagery, without having to download the data and to install software

EO4SD.lizard.netWeb portal to demonstrate the products developed and showcased under the EO4SD agriculture and rural development cluster
• Provides easy access to the data products
• No need to download the data and software
• A tool to co-develop the services
For login credentials, please contact our team
Go to the EO4SD.Lizard.net portal
Go to Apps
Select Cambodia
Open the menu
Click on “Satellite” to change the background image
Background layer “Neutral”
Background layer “Topography”
Use the search bar (top left) to navigate
For example to Phnom Penh
Zoom in (+) and out (-) with the buttons next to the search bar
For an overview of all data available
This opens the data catalogue
Show data layers on the map by clicking it
Use the compass ( ) to zoom to the full extent (spatially and temporally)
Click on the bottom bar to animate over time
Use the pointer ( ) to select the values of one pixel
Multi-temporal data will show a graph over time
For example monthly soil moisture
Add other data layers from the EO4SD database
For example a global elevation map (World DEM)
Click the selected layer to add it to the app
Go back to the menu
A DEM has no temporal layers and allows line selection
Line selection provides all values over a profile
Move up and down the line and see your position in the graph (black dot)
Add another layer
Search for “global land cover” and select the global land cover on 300m
Go back to the menu. The land cover map has loaded.
Land cover is a categorical map. Click the star to change to vector data
Each shape shows the most dominant land cover. Click it for details
E.g. this shape (district Sandan) has over 60% tree cover (181,516 ha)
Another categorical map is the cultivated area map. Click again the star
Brown districts are dominantly non-cropland
Yellow districts are dominantly cultivated area
Save views in your “Favourites”
For example the current view is now saved as “Cambodia cultivated land”
You can share your favourites ….
… using the link
You can also export data layers using “Export”
For example export a raster
Make sure you select the right cell size (in degrees)
~250m
You will receive a message when your export is ready
Download the raster in GeoTIFF format
Thank you!
