The Counselor’s Corner Tim #3: Create a routine and stick to it. Having a schedule keeps things moving smoothly. Have your child come home, eat a healthy snack, and get them started on homework right away. Try to in-clude family time and reading time every night. Tip #4: Talk and Connect! Have conversations with your child. Try to pay atten-tion to their body language and attitude. If something seems wrong, ask them about it. Try to find the best time to chat. It could be at bedtime or in the car. Take advantage of the opportunity to talk to your kids when-ever you can. Please reach out to me or the teacher if you have any concerns so we can help at school. Tip #5: Maintain healthy habits. A healthy body is a healthy mind and a happy child. Encourage your child to eat good food. Start off the day with a healthy breakfast so your child is ready for learning. Make sure they are active. Take care of yourself too! Please call or email me anytime! My number is 610-384-9030 ext. 6922 and my email is [email protected]. I am here to help!

Welcome Back West Bradford Families! Welcome back! I am very excited for another school year at West Bradford. If you haven’t quite gotten there yet, it is time to get (back) into school mode! The first few weeks of school can be challenging with all the new schedules and routines. It can be an ever greater challenge if you are helping your child navigate a new school, grade, or peer groups. It can seem daunting and feel frustrating, but you are not alone! Here are a few tips to get the school year off to a great start! Tip #1: Organization is key! The start of the school year means that you were flooded with various papers, forms, calendars, home-work instructions, and so on. Try to keep everything organized. Create a file system at home. Use your phone or computer to store things! Tip #2: Give your children Kid-Responsibilities Kid-Responsibilities will help your child to learn inde-pendence and take some of load off of your shoul-ders. If you’re looking for ways to improve behavior, you could also build the responsibilities into a reward system.

Calling all Dads….

West Bradford is looking for D.O.G.S....Dads Of Great Students….to

continue a chapter of the national Watch D.O.G.S. program at our

school. The program invites a dad a day to come be our special guest/helper for the day to support

learning and fun, be a positive male role model, a watchful safety help, and your child’s hero for the

day! Watch for more information coming soon! Or http://www.fathers.com/watchdogs/

SAFETY @ WEST BRADFORD:

Thank you for following district and building safety procedures!

Please only enter/exit the front office doors.

We appreciate your patience as we get you ‘checked’ in and out of the building. It is im-

portant we know who is here in the event of a drill or evacuation.

Kindly refrain from coming to/watching your child’s recess.

Thanks for wearing the fashionable visitor sticker!

News from the Nurse

WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Thank you for forwarding your child’s most recent immunization records. We

are grateful for your cooperation as we have worked to comply with Pennsyl-

vania’s new immunization law regarding the Polio vaccine booster. At this

time, there is no need to continue sending immunization records to school unless it

is specifically requested by the nurse. **You will receive a phone call if we have not re-

ceived a copy of your child’s physical exam. Please remember, it is the signed ‘physical

assessment’ portion that is required. Please do not send a ‘visit summary’ as this

does not satisfy the state/district requirement.

Please feel free to contact us (email works best…[email protected]) if you have any ques-

tions or concerns. Thank you for helping us keep your children healthy!

A few friendly reminders from the gym…

- All students must wear sneakers for class. Please keep this in mind for inclement weather...students can always bring a change of shoes to school with them. This allows students to move safely throughout the gym.

- Students should dress appropriately for the weather...classes may be held outside, if the weather permits.

- Please send a copy of any doctor’s note to your student’s physical education teacher so they are aware of any physical activity restrictions. Also, let them know when the restrictions have been lifted.

- If you need to contact your student’s physical education teacher, see below. Email generally works best!

WB Home and School News: Welcome back to the 2017-2018 school year. Home and School is super excited for the year ahead. Dur-

ing the first week of school everyone should have received a packet of information from Home & School,

including a volunteer form, homeroom parent form, MySchoolAnywhere form, and a general letter from

us. Please take the time to look at that and see how and where you can help us...our family activities

are only as good as the volunteers we get.

Keep your eyes open for information coming home, as well as posted through our email communication

and on our Facebook page. September is going to be a busy month and we have a lot of information we

will be sending. First up will be our first Restaurant Spirit Night at Chick Fil A (a fan favorite). Sep-

tember 13, 2017; flyers coming home this week.

Our first Home and School meeting will be on Monday, September 11, 2017 beginning at 6:30 p.m. We

meet in the Library monthly. At our first meeting, we will be reviewing the 2017/2018 activities, our

budget, and setting some new goals for Home and School. We will also hear from our teacher rep and

Dr. Wert. If you don’t understand why we fundraise, come to our meeting...if you want to know how we

use your fundraising efforts, come to our meeting...if you have input, ideas, and/or suggestions, come to

our meeting. Now is the time to hear about us and voice your opinions/thoughts. Hope to see you there.

We are looking forward to a great school year with our families, teachers, and community.

Happy September….Jenni Rieben
