Roosevelt High School Graduation Ceremony, Peterson Field- May 25, 2018
The graduating class of 2018 will hold commencement ceremonies at 7pm on the RHS
football field. Please have your graduating senior to the main gymnasium at 6pm for the
ceremony. Graduates should report back to the gym immediately following the
ceremony to return gowns and to receive their diploma. Handicap seating will be
available at Peterson Field. In the case of inclement weather, Butler Hancock
Gymnasium at University of Northern Colorado in Greeley will be the alternate
graduation site.
2018 RHS Summer School Session
Coursework will take place on the Roosevelt High School campus from June 4th – 28th,
Mondays to Thursdays from 8am to 12pm. Courses will be delivered utilizing the RHS
On-Line course delivery system and teachers will be present to facilitate lessons. Cost of
the on-line courses are $75.00 for one course and $50 for an additional course. Tuition
must be paid in full at the time of registration or the student will not be enrolled in the
class. Students may take a maximum of 2 courses. Because the Summer School session
is condensed, the attendance policy differs from Roosevelt High School’s regular school
year’s attendance policy and will be strictly enforced. Students will lose credit on their
third absence. No tuition refund.
Students may work at home as well (beyond the scheduled school day), on their own
computer with internet access, in order to successfully finish all their summer school
courses requirements. Once a student has successfully completed their summer school
course requirements, they do not need to attend on campus during the scheduled school
day(s).
One-half (0.5) credit will be awarded for each successfully completed Summer School
course. The course will be reflected on a student’s transcript. Credits and grades earned
during Summer School will be applied toward the number of credits needed for
graduation as well as the student’s overall GPA.
Safe Summer for Teens
Summer break gives your high schooler a chance to unwind. But it also means
unsupervised time, whether he or she is out with friends or at home alone. Put a plan in
place now to help keep him or her safe.
Discuss rules for different situations. Decide who is allowed over when you are
not home. What circumstances do you want them to contact you? Also, leave
emergency contact numbers.
Fill time with healthy activities. Include routines for work, exercise, chores, etc..
With leftover time, they could explore a hobby or tackle a project.
Review online safety. Be sure to keep social media pages private and not give out
personal information. Do not agree to meet in person with anyone you’ve met
online.
Starting the Job Hunt
Share these tips with your teenager as they begin the job search for the summer:
Think about what fits. Consider how many hours your child is available and
which locations he or she can get to by walking or driving. Also, what jobs relate
to their interests?
Create a resume. Having a resume will set them apart from others. This also
makes them look professional and interested. It is also a good reference when
filling out an application.
Reach out. Encourage your teen to talk to teachers, relatives, and friends’
parents. Perhaps someone knows a business owner who needs summer help.

words in the English language.” - Henry James
