Please note that there will be NO Drama for the Grade 1's, 2's and 3's on the following days:

Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th September as Mrs Mawdsley is busy with the Senior Preparatory Production.

On Thursday the Grade 1 to 7 Jewish Studies pupils visited Astra, the Jewish Sheltered Employment centre. We went on a tour of their workshops and were so inspired to see, despite their challenges, the most amazing work they do! We also visited Gardens synagogue and learnt that it is over 170 years old and is most definitely a very beautiful shul.

Mulan Next week is going to be a celebration of our children’s hard work and commitment to our exciting Drama Production, Mulan. The Drama, Music and Dance Departments have worked incredibly hard to ensure that the show will be magical. We look forward to you joining us for this very special production and thank all of the children, parents and teachers who have committed so much time and energy to ensuring that the show is a success. It has been a short but busy term with the usual academic and extra-mural demands as well as the additional demands of the Drama Production and our children are feeling tired at this time. We know that next week we will celebrate the Drama Production and then everyone will be able to rest for a few days before the final weeks of term.

The Cast of Mulan are allowed to arrive at school at 09h00 on Wednesday 5 September. The cycle test will at 09h10. I wish you a restful weekend.

The Cast of Mulan are allowed to arrive at school at 09h00.

Reminder Mrs Khani, our PE Teacher, has requested that should you have / your child have a suitable hockey stick at

home, please could he/she bring it along to their PE lesson this coming week.

1000 Voice Choir: 20 October 2018

Our Senior Primary Choir and Grade 7 Vocal Ensemble have been invited share in a little bit of history in the making by being part of the biggest children's choir in the Peninsula on Saturday October 20 on the Fish Hoek High School sports fields.

The event is linked to the very successful Young Voices Concerts in the UK (www.youngvoices.co.uk) and will provide an opportunity for a once in a lifetime experience for both your child and yourselves in this Fish Hoek Centenary Year. The teachers in charge are Mrs Bloch and Mrs Karg. There will be a great sound system and the concert will be picnic style (like at Kirstenbosch) It will start at 18h00 and last for approximately 90 minutes, ending into the evening with some special lighting effects. Each child will need to wear a white t-shirt and will be given a mini torch to use after sunset. Quicket will be handling the distribution of tickets for the concert. All tickets are R100 each, and children under 6 and of course all children in the choirs are free. Click here for access to the site http://qkt.io/young-voices-2018 Early tickets will all be in block A, closest to the choir, so do book early before they go on sale to everyone as all parents will want to be close to their children. We have attached a copy of a document setting out how to use Quicket. Proceeds from the concert will go to CHOC (Childhood Cancer Foundation). There are less than ten weeks to go, and the children are working hard on the exciting repertoire. We will be announcing some star acts in the near future, and then the general public will be getting excited.....but of course the children are the real stars.

We look forward to this very exciting event. More information regarding extra rehearsals, and meeting time and place, etc, will be sent out

closer to the time.

We would appreciate our families assisting us in the following charity drive to assist the Westlake Emmanuel Educare

School on our doorstep. The acting principal of the school, Ms Hazel Albertus, would be most grateful if every week we

assist with the supply of white and brown sliced bread loaves. Every Tuesday this term each Grade will have a turn to

supply bread. The bread must be taken to class and will then be delivered to this deserving school. Ms Albertus then

freezes the bread to use daily until the fresh bread arrives the following week. It would be wonderful if you feel you would

like to add a container of Peanut Butter, Marmite, Jam or Anchovette. We thank you in advance for your kind assistance.

On Friday, 24th August the U7 and U8 boys took part in the Wynberg Boys' Junior School Rugby Festival. It was a fantastic opportunity to play against a variety of local schools and implement many of the skills being taught during practices. The boys played with great enthusiasm and it was great to see the improvement in communication and comradery. Well done to all the boys who participated and had their time to shine in the lovely sunshine!

U9 boys had a very successful and fun morning at the Fish Hoek festival on Saturday.
