Sponsored Walk Despite a bit of mud and drizzle, students and staff joined together on the last day before half-term to walk 7 miles through the local countryside. Many students got into the spirit by wearing a variety of fancy dress costumes, and members of the public out walking their dogs were surprised to come across Smurfs, superheroes and Shrek characters. So far we have managed to raise around £5,835, which will increase with the addion of Giſt Aid. Thank you to everyone for your support, and to volunteers for marshalling the event. From the Principal…

It has been a very positive and productive half term. I am grateful for the support from parents/carers in contributing to the smooth and successful introduction of new policies. Students have adapted brilliantly to our revised expectations regarding uniform and mobile phones. If you are topping up uniform items over the half term break, please do refer to the guidance on our website. I know that a number of students are shopping for black socks next week.

A great by product of the removal of mobile phone use during the school day has been the increase in students attending lunchtime clubs. There was a fantastic turn out at this week’s Freshers’ Fayre which publicised all of the great enrichment opportunities on offer at the College. The event provided students with the opportunity to experience bell ringing, heart dissection, ukulele playing and debate about the bigger questions in life. I look forward to seeing lots of students try out some new activities next half term.

Arts enrichment has received special recognition with the award of Artsmark gold status this week, as detailed below. This is a great accomplishment and celebrates the fabulous arts offer at LVC.

It was great to see the whole school partaking in some fresh air and exercise together in the local countryside to raise money and have fun. I wish you all a safe and enjoyable half term break.
