Likewise, with his empty fishing nets dramatically filled at Jesus instruction, Peter fell to his knees and cried out, Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man. Next, Peter got up. He docked his boats then left to follow Jesus. Isaiah also had a dramatic change of heart. When he heard the Lord say, Whom shall I send? Who will go for us? Isaiah answered, Here I am, send me. We are summoned daily by the Risen Lord. We are reminded of the saving power of the gospel and know in our heart of hearts that, as St. Paul wrote, believing in anything else won’t lead to anything. What will it take for you to move past your sinfulness? What will it take for you to get off your knees? What will it take for you to bring to dock what is unimportant and to accept your call to be God’s messenger? Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co.

Survivor of Suicide Support Group The death of a loved one is never easy and grief is experienced differently for everyone. The Jacob Crouch Suicide Prevention Services and the Office of Marriage and Family Life have formed a support group especially tailored for survivors of suicide. The group is facilitated by a licensed counselor and is open to all survivors of suicide over the age of 18 and meets on two evenings a month in Lafayette. Bishop’s Services Appeal

The 2019 Bishop’s Services Appeal begins this month, and it is an opportunity for Sacred Heart parish to share in the mission of the Diocese of Lafayette and the mission of our own church parish. Your gift will make a significant impact through the programs, ministries and services supported by the Bishop’s Services Appeal

Last weekend during the Education Weekend we listened to Bishop Deshotel asking us for our support of the appeal. Many of you received a letter this week from Bishop Deshotel asking you to support the Bishop’s Services Appeal by making a financial contribution. You were also asked last weekend to return you commitment card to church today in the collection or you can mail directly to the Office of Stewardship and Development in the postage paid, return address envelope.

If you have not responded to the appeal before, consider how you can join in sacrifice of support today. BSA brochures and in-pew pledge cards are provided on the shelves in the Gathering Area.

Stewardship Moment In the first reading from the prophet Isaiah we get a glimpse of a model for Christian stewards to follow. Within the temple, God’s voice shakes the foundations and causes the natural world to shake and tremble. The Lord asks: “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” Isaiah replies to the call of God for service with immediacy and enthusiasm: “Here I am, send me!” There is no hesitation. There are no excuses, contingencies, or “what-ifs.” Good stewards know that responding to the Lord’s call to serve is never easy, never simple to grasp, never designed for ready comfort and success. But the call needs a response. What about us? What does it take to shake us into an enthusiastic response? To say to God: “Here I am, Lord. Send me!”
