Medomak Valley High School Jazz Band Benefit Concert at Owl’s Head Transporta>on Museum
The 3rd Annual Jazz for Meals benefit concert will take place at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 1st at Owls Head
Transporta>on Museum, Route 73. A great evening of cabaret style entertainment, featuring tradi>onal
and modern jazz, will again be served up with plenty of room for dancing in the hall. Bands from Belfast Area High School, Medomak Valley High School, Camden Regional High School and Wiscasset High School
will entertain with sounds ranging from those of the big band era, individual and ensemble vocals of standards to jazz of the 60’s and beyond. All proceeds will benefit Midcoast Meals on Wheels programs.
Admission for the event is by dona>on with suggested amounts of $8 for adults, $5 for students and $15
for families. The Transporta>on Museum may also be viewed with the admission price of the benefit concert. Please join us for a deligh^ul evening while lending a helping hand to your neighbors. FMI

Waldoboro Rec offering Swimming Lessons
The Waldoboro Recreation Department is offering Swimming Lessons on Tuesday's and Thursday's (March 15 to April 7th) at the Waldoboro Fitness Center. Participants ages (4) and up (younger if accompanied in pool) can register for the following categories: (Level 1 - Introduction to Water Skills, Level 2 - Fundamental Aquatic Skills, Level 3 - Stroke Development and Level 4 - Stroke Improvement - Time slots (beginning at 4:00pm) will be assigned once all registrations are received. This is a 4-week program with (2) 30-minute lessons per week with a Red Cross certified instructor. Space is limited to 10 students per session. Cost of the program is $35 for Waldoboro residents and $45 for non-residents. Summer ACE has a limited number of childcare openings…. ACE offers an on-site school based summer camp at Warren Community School for families with children ages 5-12 in MSAD #40. We will be open from 7:30-5:30 Monday through Friday. We will be taking age appropriate group trips three times a week during this summer. Some of our plans include swimming at area beaches, lakes and tidal pools, and swimming pools, hiking, FunTown, Aquaboggin, Sea Coast Fun Park, a museums, Fort Knox, movies and finding positive ways of interacting within our own communities. On site activities will be offered too, arts and crafts, games, opportunities for individual and group playtime, creating and using our very own “water slide,” gardening, nature trail exploration, work and habitat activities. Children are also encouraged to bring their bikes but they must also have and wear a helmet. We also accept childcare third party payment sources. WALDOBORO LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL/SOFTBALL/T-BALL REGISTRATION, TRYOUTS & CLINICS REGISTRATION for the 2011 Waldoboro Little League season will take place on Tues (3/15) & Thurs (3/17) from 5:30-7:30pm at the Medomak Middle School and on Tues (3/15) 5:30-7:00pm at Friendship Village School. Registrations will also be accepted Monday-Friday until April 1st at the Waldoboro Recreation Department from 8:30-5pm. REGISTRATION DEADLINE for all levels is April 1st. Little League Baseball/Softball requires at least one parent or legal guardian present a state certified copy of the child’s birth certificate three proofs of residence. Registration is required even if the child played previously. Registration fee is $25. Additional family members receive $5 discount. Scholarships are available. Players must live within the league boundaries of Waldoboro and Friendship (there are some exceptions) and fall between the designated eligibility birth dates in order to enroll: T-Ball(coed) and Baseball - between 5/1/98 & 4/30/06, Softball - between 1/1/98 & 12/31/04. Divisions of play include: T-Ball (5&6 coed), Minor League (Coach & Player Pitch) Softball & Baseball (7-8), Major League Softball (9-12), Major League Baseball (9-10) & (11-12)
TRYOUTS - To be selected to a Major League Team, all "new" players (ages 9-12) MUST attend at least one tryout/evaluation session. Players on the LIONS*, COUGARS*, WILDCATS, PANTHERS, BEARS, TIGERS, FILLIES, BOBTAILS or DIAMONDBACKS in 2010 need to register, but not tryout. (* Players league age 11 who played for LIONS & COUGARS must attend tryout). This year’s evaluations will be held in the Medomak Valley High School Gym as follows: Girls Softball - 4/2 (5-7pm) & 4/3 (3-5pm) @ MVHS. Boys Baseball - 4/2 (3-5pm) & 4/3 (5-7pm) @ MVHS.
CLINICS - Waldoboro Little League is hosting a series of Baseball and Softball clinics that will focus primarily on hitting and fielding skill development. The clinics will take place in the Miller School Gym on Sundays through March 27th as follows: Softball 2:30pm to 4pm, Baseball 4:00pm to 5:30pm. Clinics are free and are intended for those ages 9-12 years old. Coaches willing to assist and those needing additional information about the clinics should contact Bob Soper at 832-0602.
