Year 7 Rosebery Geography Trip On Tuesday and Wednesday Year 7 went on a field trip to

the Seven Sisters Country Park. As soon as we got off the

coach we admired the beautiful view of the river and the

well-kept park. Firstly we sat down on the hill; our teacher

- Mr Carter - talked us through the formation of the

meanders and extra information about the park. We

found out that the park was a SSSI (Sight of Special

Scientific Interest) and an AONB (Area of Natural Beauty).

There was a range of wildlife including cows, sheep, geese,

insects, flowers and much more.

Next, everyone’s favourite part of the day -

lunch! We sat down on the grass and happily

ate our lunch, looking at the landscape of

beautiful cliffs, cottages and the sea. We used

our booklets to complete some field sketches.

We also had a really fun competition of taking

the best selfie (with a geographical feature in

it!). Finally, we had ice cream. It was a great

day and very useful to be able to apply our

classroom work in the open landscape. I think

everyone enjoyed it!

Year 7 Field Trip to Cuckmere Haven The real trip began in the bus. The excited Year 7 classes bunched

together onto three coaches – 7MY and part of 7PY on one, some more

of 7PY and 7CY on another and 7EY (our form) with the rest of 7PY on the

last. Everybody rushed into the buses and chatted loudly about the

competitions and how they would pose for their pictures. Two hours

later, we arrived. One by one we emerged from the coaches and soaked

in the fabulous view of the surrounding hills. It was beautiful. Up by the

fields, we worked in our booklets and learnt new information about the

Seven Sisters and Cuckmere River. We trekked through the thick

overgrowth until we reached our picnic spot.

After admiring the spectacular views, we sat down to have our lunch. During this time we sketched the area around us and put the theory we had learnt back in the classroom into practice. The landscape surrounding us was absolutely breath-taking and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The teachers had set many competitions to take part in, one of which was the selfie competition, and it was definitely the most popular one. After about half an hour, we began to head back to the coach parking area. Before boarding our transport home we all bought delicious ice creams from the ice-cream van, this was a great end to an amazing trip. On the way home we all looked at each other’s pictures we had taken and flicked through all of our booklets. Overall the trip was

amazing and definitely worthwhile. We would like to thank the wonderful geography teachers for organising this trip. By Esme Lacey 7EY and Izzy Chapman 7EY
