counter of the Student Services Office
with your name and concern. Your

3 Types of Grade Point Averages
• State Unweighted GPA: used for graduation
requirement of minimum 2.0 unweighted GPA.
• GCH Weighted GPA: used for class ranking.
• Bright Futures Recalculated “Academic Core’ GPA:
used to qualify for BF Scholarship Programs.
How GPA’s are Calculated• State Unweighted GPA Calculation
• A = 4 Points B= 3 Points C = 2 Points D= 1.0 Point F = 0 Points
• Number points earned divided by number of credits attempted
• GCH Weighted GPA Calculation
• Honors Courses
add .02 points to each semester with grade of “C” or better
Ex. English 1 Hon. A= 4.04 (entire full credit course)
• Advanced Placement/Dual Enrollment/AICE
add .04 points to each semester with grade of “C” or better
Ex. AP Biology
Grade “A” = 4.08 (entire full credit course)
• Honors/AP/AICE/DE weight is added to State Unweighted GPA
• Bright Futures Recalculated Academic Core GPA:
• Academic Core Courses receive weight. Academic Core Courses are added together with the weight and divided by the number of courses taken.
• Honors Courses receive .5 weight
• AP, AICE, D/E Courses receive 1.0 weight

Florida Gulf Coast UniversityThe Accelerated Collegiate Experience (ACE) is designed to provide a unique educational experience to qualified junior and senior high school students who are seeking an advance study option.

• Can not miss more than 9 days / semester
• Please communicate with Attendance Office to

Make Up Work Policy
Students are to be provided one school day for everyday day missed to make up work.
Long term assignments are due on the day the student returns to school.
Midterm Exams
Final Exams
• Often we get calls about students missing
midterm or final exams. Students are not
allowed to take the exams early - they can
only take them when they return.
Upcoming PSAT
PSAT testing for sophomores:
October 14th, 2015• Letters sent home 9/16 in English Class.
• 10th graders must return the PSAT letter with parent signature
if they wish to ‘opt out’ of test (9/23 return).
• Check quarter grades often
• Communicate directly with your
student’s teacher if you have a concern
• Take all standardized testing seriously
• This presentation will be on the GCHS
