POITIERS: A medium-sized city with a giant heart for university students Poitiers is a medium-sized city in the heart of France with a heart for univer-sity students, who make up 25% of its population. Thanks to the high-speed trains (TGV); Paris, Bordeaux, the castles of the Loire Valley and the Atlantic coast beaches are all just a couple of hours away. And if one loves the great outdoors, one can enjoy its dozens of local parks and over 400 kilometers (240 miles) of hiking and biking trails. Since 1431, the University of Poitiers has welcomed thousands of university students. Come join the more than 25,000 who come to study here each year. Let Poitiers, the “City of Spires”, inspire you to reach to greater heights. Poitiers has the highest per capita ratio of university students in relation to the city’s resident population among all French cities, making it the most “Student-Friendly” city in all of France.
