Fraternal Order of Eagles 3996
Fellow Members, Summer is behind us and fall has arrived. That signals that it's time to pay our yearly dues. The Grand Aerie changed the date our dues will expire so that all clubs across the country will be uni-form. Please read what our Secretary Jeff Gueli wrote inside about the change and what it means for your dues payment this year. Although the expiration date has changed, that does not change the fact that your dues are to be paid by October 31st of this year. There is a 15 day grace period, but after November 15th you can't come into the club until your dues are paid. If you haven't paid them by February 15th, the Grand Aerie WILL drop you and you'd have to pay $20 to reenroll after that point.
Please try to send your dues promptly so we can save the additional expense of sending out re-
minders. Checks can be made out to the Van Buren Eagles #3996 and mailed to the club (Attn. Aerie Secretary Jeff Gueli). A stamped, self-addressed envelope would be appreciated. If you live in the area and drop by the club to pay, please let the per-son taking your money know if you're will-ing to pick your card up at the club and save us the postage.
Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call the club and ask for the Sec-retary's office or me. Thank you.
Fraternally yours, Worthy President Gary Smith
Dear Sisters,
I would like to Thank Trish and her committee for a great job on the Family Picnic.
I would like to extend a Thank You to Barb Brasington for her many years of service as our Funeral Luncheon Director and to Sue Banners for stepping up into that position.
Thank you to Janice Eaton for the Blood Drive, we met our quota.
We still need an outside guard and a Trustee.
Please make sure to sign up your chil-dren/grandchildren if they would like to attend the Kid’s Halloween Party October 24
@ 2PM. Candy Donations and Volun-teers are needed to make this party a success. Please contact Bobbie Saffron, chairperson for more infor-mation.
Just a reminder, the Senior Thanks-giving dinner is November22nd at 1pm. Food donations are needed and greatly appreciat-ed. Oktoberfest is October 2nd @ 4:30 pm. Cancer Fundraiser is November 7th.
Madam President Lisa Ochalek

*******ATTENTION*********AERIE MEMBERS******DUES INFORMATION*******
In a letter dated August 3, 2015 sent from the Grand Aerie: The Delegates at the 2015 Grand Aerie Convention approved a change to Section 71.3 of the Statutes, effective immediately and requiring a change in all Aerie By-Laws. The change states in part: Section 71.3. All dues paid in advance to the Local Aerie annually shall become due and payable on May 31st of each year.
The Grand Aerie is now collecting dues with the new expiration date of May 31st annually. Therefore, Aerie members will have two options to choose from when paying their dues in October:
1) You can pay $20.42 through the expiration date of May 31, 2016. If you choose this option, in May 2016 you will have to pay $35 to renew your dues through May 2017.
2) You can pay $55.42 and be paid up till May 31, 2017. Anyone who joined as a veteran or first responder will have to check with the Aerie Secretary to determine how much their dues will be since their first year of dues are waived. Thank you, Jeff Gueli Aerie Secretary #3996
