From the President’s Desk
Allow me to introduce myself
Just a few weeks ago, on April 11th to be exact, I had the honor to have been selected as the
33rd President of this grand institution called Francis Wilson Playhouse.
My involvement here at FWP began five years ago in March of 2005 as a board member. In 2008 I was appointed as General Manager, in 2009 as the Lighting Designer for each of the shows and now as President. Wow, I’m humbled.
As with any new administration come new insights, new focus and new plans.
The task ahead for myself and the other 11 current members of the Francis Wilson Playhouse board of directors will be to return the theatre to a time when each performance of every show played to a nearly sold out house.
Our work has already begun on this particular topic and over the months of this coming summer we will be performing a complete overhaul of the sound system, upgrading the lighting system, a deep down cleaning, painting and general sprucing up of the auditorium and stage areas.
There is much to do and I’d like to thank in advance all of the people who are or will be involved in this remake of FWP.
That being said, it gives me particular delight to welcome all of you to the final production of our 80th season Don’t Dress for Dinner, a lively comedy directed by Mary Kay Cyrus, one of FWP's fine actors/directors.
Please have a safe and enjoyable summer as we look forward to kicking off our 81st sensational season with Barefoot in the Park. See you then. Cordially Andrew L. Rufo

Comedy By Marc Camoletti, Adapted by
Robin Hawdon
Directed by: Mary Kay Cyrus
Director’s Notes Some plays are written just to be fun and Francis Wilson did an exceptional job in choosing a play that would end their 2009-2010 season offering wallops of laughter. The plays I usually select to direct are most often in the genre of comedy/drama. Writing director’s notes referencing the “moral of the story” is generally quite easy. Identifying a “moral” in Don’t Dress for Dinner is a bit more difficult, if not impossible. However there is convoluted thinking, plenty of “who’s on first” conversations, and tons of animated subterfuges that all add up to madcap and fast-paced hilarity. I can only hope that you, the audience, laugh half as much as cast and crew did during rehearsals. “What a tangled web we weave”.
PLACE
The action takes place in the main living room of a converted country house some distance from town

Meet the Cast
Francesca Aquino (Suzette) - Francesca is originally from El Salvador and moved to Tampa about five years ago. This is her first play in nine years and she hopes to be part of many more. She wishes to thank her husband and family for supporting her in pursuing her true passion, acting. She is thrilled to have worked with such a talented cast!
Sam DePriest (Bernard) -Sam is pleased to be in his second production here at FWP having been seen here last portraying Doc in Leading Ladies. He has performed for many years in community theater in Tennessee, Maryland and now Florida and has met many wonderful and talented people who share his love of the stage. Thanks to Mary Kay for casting me in the role of Bernard! It is a joy to work with her and my fellow actors/actresses in this production!
Thanks for your support of the arts, and I hope you enjoy the show as much as we enjoy bringing it to you!
Mark Myers (Robert) - Mark performed previously at Francis Wilson in the Lary Award Winning Rumors and Any Wednesday. He studied in Vermont and New York and joined/toured with NY Rep in Pericles, Oedipus and Godspell. Samantha Parisi (Jacqueline) - Samantha is thrilled to be making her debut at Francis Wilson. Having returned to the stage after a hiatus spent raising three wonderful children she most recently appeared in the Tarpon Springs PAC production of My Sister Eileen as Ruth. Prior to this Samantha appeared in many local area productions, including: Guys and Dolls, Leader of the Pack, Hello Dolly!, Sugar, Grease, South Pacific, and Strange Bedfellows.
Thank you, Mary Kay for your patience. To my husband and children, I appreciate all your love and understanding. And finally, to all my family and friends (you know who you are!) thank you for your encouragement and support. Now, sit back and enjoy the show!
Danielle Saar (Suzanne) - After a ten year “break”, Danielle is thrilled to be returning to theater in Don’t Dress For Dinner – even if it means playing a gold-digging actress/model. Danielle was born and raised in Calabasas, CA – home to J. Lo’s second wedding, Britney Spears’ head-shaving fiasco, and of course, the Kardashians. Danielle says she models “Suzanne” after the real-life characters of her hometown. Thanks to Mary Kay for this
amazing experience. What a show! What a show!
Nick Sloan (George) - No stranger to acting, Nick has appeared in over 30 international, national, and regional T.V. commercials, several T.V. dramas, movies, done over 100 company videos, several plays in Los Angeles, and was a radio D.J. in Nagoya, Japan. He speaks Russian, Japanese, and English. Nick is a middle school teacher in Pinellas County and the proud father of three wonderful boys.
Meet the Directors and Crew
Mary Kay Cyrus (Director) Mary Kay has thoroughly enjoyed directing her first show for FWP. During the past three years, she has directed several shows for Carrollwood Players (CWP) and Venue Ensemble Theatre (VET). Some favorites, in addition to this one, include The Octette Bridge Club, Five Tellers Dancing in the Rain, and A Bench in the Sun. Prior to moving to Florida, Mary Kay was the Artistic and Managing
Director for Reflections Repertory Company in Richmond, VA. As much as she enjoys directing, she also enjoys being on stage and tries to juggle her schedule to accommodate both. Mary Kay has appeared on the FWP stage in Rumors, The Prisoner of Second Avenue, and The Second Time Around.

She was most recently seen in Later Life with VET and participated in a staged reading at American Stage as part of their Hot-off-the-Press Playwright Series. As always, a special thanks and love to her husband Ken for all of his support. God Bless.
Rita Kitenplon (Stage Manager) Rita has stage managed several shows at FWP including Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks, Visiting Mr. Green and The Remarkable Mr. Pennypacker. Her other credits both on the stage and off include, Mr. Angel, Anna's Brooklyn Promise, The Man Who Came to Dinner, and Auntie Mame. She is thrilled to be working with such a wonderful and talented group and thanks her husband Steve for his
patience and understanding. God bless you all!

FIVE TO FLY THE FLAG
The campaign to raise funds for a flagpole installation on the grounds of the Francis Wilson Playhouse, 302 Seminole Street, Clearwater, had its official launch, April 21, 2010.
The goal is to raise the $2,500 needed to install a 30’ flagpole with a 4’ X 8’ flag in time for the 75th anniversary of the Cornerstone Dedication Ceremony that takes place two months from now on June 21, 2010.
We’re now 1/3 of the way!
Since the official launch, April 21, 2010, as of May 7, we’ve raised $882.00, or one-third of our goal.
If each FWP member makes a donation of $5, the fund will have more than enough to pay for the plans, permits, flagpole and installation.
That’s why the donation campaign is named:
“FIVE TO FLY THE FLAG”
Please make your tax-deductible donation in cash, check, or credit card to: Francis Wilson Playhouse. Call the Box Office (727)446-1360 for additional information.

Barefoot in the Park Comedy
By Neil Simon
The 1530 performances of this show’s original run at the Biltmore Theatre made it the tenth longest running non-musical play on Broadway ever. Not only was Robert Redford the leading man, but he also starred (with Jane Fonda) in the Hollywood movie of the same name, also scripted by Simon. The play won the legendary director Mike Nichols a Tony Award – the first of nine that he now owns. Nichols also owns four Emmys, a Grammy and an Oscar, as well as numerous other awards. Phew!
Newlyweds Corie and Paul Bratter live in a tiny sixth floor walk-up apartment in a Greenwich Village brownstone. Stuffed-shirt Paul is a hard-working young attorney just starting his practice, while his spontaneous bride Corie is determined to create a romantic environment in one room with no heat, a hole in the skylight, and oddball neighbors. Corie’s mother is full of advice: “Make him feel important. If you do that, you'll have a happy and wonderful marriage - like two out of every ten couples.” However, Corie has her own ideas: “Paul, I think I'm gonna be a lousy wife. But don't be angry with me. I love you very much - and I'm very sexy!” Victor Velasco, the crazy neighbor who lives on the roof, has this to say: “Shama shama elma commama!”
The story is so successful because it deals with a theme that we all know very well -- the shock of the reality of marriage after the ecstasy and joy of the honeymoon. In this play we have a controlling husband and a free spirited wife learning to meet each other half way, and succeeding so that we can have a happy ending. Their journey is rife with Neil Simon one-liners and throw-aways. The action is frenetic as all of the players contribute to the general havoc.
This is an hilarious show, and promises to be a great start to our 81st season.
