St. Michael & Sacred Heart Catholic Parishes
Called - Nurtured - Sent To carry on the Mission of Christ
From Your Pastor
We have come through an amazing seven weeks. A great Easter celebration, joyous first communions, our 33 days of preparation to conse-crate ourselves to Mary, our wonderful celebra-tions for the 100th anniversary of Our Lady of Fat-ima, and our novena preparation for the Feast of Pentecost and its celebration last Sunday. We should be tired by now yet we still have some cele-brations ahead. This weekend is the great Feast of the Holy Trinity, next weekend the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, then we prepare with a novena for our parish Feast of the Sacred Heart with its own day's activities. Our Canada day celebration awaits us as well as we host for Sarnia Lambton’s parishes a Saturday morning Mass at Sacred church. Thank you to all who have made and will continue to make our celebration so memorable.
Communion Procession from June – August at 5:00 Mass
(St. Michael Church)
From June through August at the 5:00 Mass at St. Michael Church, we will be serving communion only from the centre aisle. People will come forward for com-munion as they would at a weekday Mass, moving from the side pews through the centre pews to the centre aisle. If you have mobility issues making this extra move-ment challenging, you may wish to sit in the middle section of the church for these months.
Vacation Bible School Craft Bee
As in other years, we will once again be having a VBS craft bee to prepare some of the craft items. If you can help us for a few hours after the 5:30 Mass on Saturday, June 24 we will meet in the Sacred Heart Meeting Room. We will begin with pizza. If you can assist, please let us know by contacting the office at [email protected] or extension 0. Thanks for your help.

Development and Peace
Famine Relief Fund
The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops have launched a national appeal in response to famines in South Sudan and the extreme food shortages in Yemen, northeast Nigeria and Somalia. The CCCB has joined other Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, and Bahá'í faith leaders in Canada in launching a national appeal to help address these needs.
In February 2017, the United Nations declared there are 20 million people, including 1.4 million vulnerable children, at risk of death over the coming months in these four countries. This crisis results from ongoing armed conflicts and severe droughts, with hundreds of thousands of people being displaced from their homes and land. According to the UN, the crisis far exceeds the current availability of resources and funding. Contributions made to a recognized Canadian charity between March 17 to June 30, 2017 will be matched by the Government of Canada with its re-cently announced "Famine Relief Fund".
You can donate on line at www.devp.org/en/famine-relief-fund; or cheques marked “famine relief” may be mailed to Devel-opment and Peace, 1425 René-Lévesque Blvd West, 3rd Floor Montréal, Québec Canada, H3G 1T7

"Missions" Update
It's time for an update on your very generous donations for "Missions" in our needy global community. Most recently we have been able to support children's feeding programs in Haiti and Dominican Republic through Rayjon Sharecare. The bulk of the funding went to the Sacred Heart Centre in Cap Haitian which receives 15-25 children suffering from moderate to severe malnutrition. Additional care and support is provided for some 45 children in the nursery. The remainder of the funds provided went to Barrio 41 in Dominican Republic. The centre provides one hot meal a day to 25-45 children. Programs for mothers to help break the cycle of poverty are also provided at both of these centres.
A generous donation was also given to the Diocesan Mission Commission to support the work of the Brothers of St. Louis in the Philippines, under the direction of Brother Bayu.
Thank you for your generosity and continued support for the Missions.
