Sir Knights and Ladies,

The Good Friday procession was well attended, even though we did not have the walk through town because of the weather, it was still an impressive and spiritual event that is memorialized every year by the re-enactment of the passion of Christ, which is put on by the Italian communi-ty in Amherstburg, and we thank them for inviting us to participate in the procession.

New Uniform for Colour Corps: As you all know on July 1st our Regalia will no lon-ger be part of the 4th Degree Colour Corps dress code, and will be officially replaced with the new uniform, and as far as I am aware there is no compromise to be had from Su-preme. A poll was taken among 6 Assemblies in our district and the highest majority of members will not purchase or want the new uniform for many legitimate reasons. So what does this mean for us who are part of the Colour Corps and what do we do? This whole fiasco and highly unwanted change be-ing dictated to us will not alter who we are as good Catholic gentlemen and should not diminish our support for our Church and communities as a result. My plea to those who are thinking of dropping out of the Colour Corps please consider that the most important reason for what we do, is not based on whether we are in Regalia, Uniform or Tux but to serve our Church and communities for the greater good of all. We will still need to have an organizational struc-ture via Assembly Commanders to co-ordinate our Colour Corps. to support events such as the Passion walk on Good Friday, Remembrance Day ceremonies and other events, Yes we will still serve as Honour Guards, we will not be in Regalia, we may not have anyone in the new uniform, but we will be in our Tux’s and service baldric, white gloves and ceremonial sword to participate as Honour Guards espe-cially to pay our respects and to honour our Sir Knights at their funerals. Many of us, myself included have strong emotions, angry in fact about how all this came about and rightfully so. This situation is something we will all have to deal with the best we can, and hopefully each one of us in good conscience will come to their own decisions. What will be the future of our Colour Corps. moving forward, will we adapt and stay relevant?, only time will tell.

Our 25th Anniversary planning is going well, ads for our anniversary booklet are starting to come in and we cur-rently have 12 business related ads. Also patron ads can be purchased for $10. Tickets for the Anniversary celebration are now available, they are $30/pp and I will have them at the May meeting. At any time if you need tickets please let

me know and I will reserve them for you at the door. If you commit to the tickets and do not attend, you will still be re-sponsible for the purchase, except if an unexpected circum-stance comes up and cannot attend. The evening will start off with a 5:00 pm Mass at St. John the Baptist Church, 225 Brock St; just ½ block from the Hall. The Hall doors will open at 5:30 pm and Dinner at 6:30pm. The menu is as follows, Complementary bottle of a white and a red wine, salad, buns & butter, roast beef and gravy, breaded chicken, mashed potatoes, vegetable medley, penne with meat sauce & cheese, ice cream with berries, coffee & tea, served at table country style.Cut off date for tickets will be August 17th 2019 so we can get our meal numbers in on time.Looking forward to seeing you all in McGregor on May 16th

Faithful Comptrollers’ Report:

Sir Knight’s and Ladies,

Hope all is well with every-one. We have enough new members to obtain star assembly award. It is a difficult award to get because of all

the criteria to get it. We just need any members with out-standing dues to please get them in. We had a very successful fish fry in Amherstburg and coupled with the fish fry in McGregor, we were able to add a lot of money into the Lottery account and put some in the chalice account as well. We now have enough money in the two accounts to cover roughly 10% of the membership for donations for when any pass away. We still have a long way to go before we have a comfortable amount to cover donations so fundraising will have to be an ongoing thing. What probably most of our members do not realize is that besides the $300 donation going out is the additional $100 coming out of the general account. That is to cover the plaques for them and their donation, The clock given to kin and the candle as well. It all adds up so we have to be mindful of the funds we have at all times. We are ok and need to ensure we stay that way. We have a fantastic assembly and as long as we keep up the good work, it should stay that way. God Bless and take care.

Faithful Commander’s Report:

“Sir Knight” is more than a title, “IT IS AN HONOUR”

Worthy Sir Knights and Ladies, well Lent has come and gone and now so has Easter, where has this year gone? Last month (April) we started the elec-

tion process by conducting nominations for Executive po-sitions - I wish ALL good luck, as I was not able to attend, these positions are very important and they need to be filled. PLEASE CONSIDER STEPPING FORWARD, IT WILL MAKE OUR ASSEMBLY STRONGER. I would like to WISH ALL the LADIES and ALL the MOTHERS of OUR ASSEMBLY a VERY HAPPY MOTH-ER’S DAY; I will again be treating My Wife to her very Special Day and I am hoping that many of you Men will do the same. We have ALL been saddened by the News that Fr. Brian Jane will be leaving not only Amherstburg but also Our Assembly’s Executive - I would like to THANK him for ALL that he has done and ALL he has allowed us to do during his time in Amherstburg. I wish to THANK ALL the SIR KNIGHTS who took the time to help Reverend Fathers Brian Jane, Dwayne Adam and Rick Janisse with the Holy Thursday Masses and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at each of their Churches. I would also like to THANK ALL the SIR KNIGHTS who came out on Good Friday for the Annual Passion of Christ and Solemn Procession - this year with the weather being uncertain the Procession stayed within the bounds of St. John the Baptist Church’s property - BUT it was still quite a site to see and sadly may be the last - at least COLOUR CORPS AND REGALIA WISE. I would also like to THANK ALL the SIR KNIGHTS who brought food for the time of FELLOWSHIP after the Procession - it was certainly appreciated by ALL. I would also like to THANK the SIR KNIGHTS from the Fr. Alvin P. Marentette Assembly #2097, Alphonse Kerck-haert Assembly #2289 and G. Stephen Hudders Assembly # 3469 for their participation in the Procession and time of fellowship. In my last report, I FORGOT TO THANK SIR KNIGHT KEVEIN KLINCK, who Purchased the Centerpiec-es for the “Knight Out Too” event - he then gave them to our Lovely Widows in attendance. THANK YOU, Sir Knight

Kevin, for this wonderful act of kindness and generosity, I guess my whining about any extra expenses really worked. It may very well be countdown to the end of RE-GALIA time; BUT REMEMBER WE CAN STILL WEAR OUR TUXES, WHITE GLOVES, SOCIAL BALDRIC AND SWORDS TO ANY FUNCTION. Worthy Colour Corps Members, Please consider being Proud and Patriotic and wear the regalia as often as possi-ble while we still can, it is so much a part of the 4th degree and the Knights of Columbus just as the 4 principles of our Order are.
