Church of St. Joseph Good Samaritan Sunday “A Heart for Christ”

For He rescues the poor when they cry out, the oppressed who have no one to help. He shows pity to the needy and the poor and saves the lives of the

poor. Psalm 72:12-13

As part of the Church of St. Joseph outreach program, we dedicate 10% of the 5th Sunday collection to charitable outreach. This month, 10% of our collection for

the weekend of December 28 & 29 will go toward our charitable outreach. There are also envelopes provided in the bi-annual envelope mailing that has mailed to each

household. Thank you so much for all of your support to our charitable outreach.

The Diocese of Bismarck is seeking a full-time Director of Family Ministry. Respon-

sibilities of this position include the sup-

port of marriage preparation and marriage

and family ministry, administer diocesan

social justice activities by fostering an awareness of and edu-

cation for priests/parishes for referral within the diocese to

social services or other agencies.

A bachelor’s degree in human services is required. Additional certificates of completion of training in marriage assessment instruments, natural family planning, building strong families,

and marriage institute trainings are preferred. An understand-

ing of the Church’s position on marriage and the family pro-

grams is required. The ideal candidate loves the Catholic

Church and its ministries, enjoys working with people, is a

self-starter and is goal orientated.

Dec. 22 Christ the King Presents: Lessons & Carols Christ the King Church in Mandan will again be having Lessons & Carols this Advent. It will be Sunday, December 22, at 7:00PM in the Church. Come listen to the song of the ‘O An-tiphons’, listen to readings from Scripture, and join in sing-ing classic Advent hymns! It is a joy-filled evening to pre-pare our hearts for Christmas. There will be refreshments and hot apple cider for everyone to enjoy afterwards. All are welcome!

Dec. 24 Christmas Eve Dinner at Ascension Parish Ascen-sion Church in Bismarck is hosting their annual Christmas Eve Dinner on Tuesday, Dec. 24 from 5:30-7 p.m. in their parish community room. The menu includes: roast turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, coleslaw, cranberries, relishes, rolls, and dessert. This is a FREE meal for individuals and families in need, alone, or simply want to celebrate Christ’s birth with others. Rides are available for those who need transportation. Call the parish office at 701-223-3606 to reserve a ride or if you have any questions.

Christmas Eve Prayer Loving God, Help us remember the birth of Jesus, that we may share in the song of the angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and worship of the wise men. Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the

world. Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every

greeting. Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings,

and teach us to be merry with clear hearts. May the Christmas morning make us happy to be

thy children, and Christmas evening bring us to our beds

with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for

Jesus’ sake. Amen.
