Foreword Welcome to the new ‘clinical review series’, a joint initiative between Clinical and Experimental Dermatology and Zeitschrift fu ¨r Haut- und Geschlechtskrankheiten, H 1 G, a German language dermatology journal. This represents a new venture in international medical publishing involving simultaneous publication of arti- cles in two journals, in two languages, thus providing great benefit to the readership and contributors of both journals. The ‘clinical review series’ will publish highly relevant themed review issues dedicated to important subjects in clinical dermatology. This year we will publish two such issues, on melanoma and atopic dermatitis. Next year the two themes will be psoriasis and ageing skin. Why have we taken this approach? Firstly, by combining our resources the international exposure of articles published in this series will increase enormously. Secondly, because only Clinical and Experimental Derma- tology is cited on Medline, authors who contribute to H 1 G will benefit from a citation index for their published manuscripts. Thirdly, together, both journals can provide a better framework for the involvement of high calibre international contributors to the ‘clinical review series’. We hope you will feel that this series represents a very useful educational resource to practising dermatologists. Our intention is to continue with this initiative for the foreseeable future. As with all such ventures, feedback is important and both editors would very much like to hear your views. Foreword

Welcome to the new `clinical review series', a joint

initiative between Clinical and Experimental Dermatology

and Zeitschrift fuÈr Haut- und Geschlechtskrankheiten,

H 1 G, a German language dermatology journal. This

represents a new venture in international medical

publishing involving simultaneous publication of arti-

cles in two journals, in two languages, thus providing

great benefit to the readership and contributors of both

journals.

The `clinical review series' will publish highly

relevant themed review issues dedicated to important

subjects in clinical dermatology. This year we will

publish two such issues, on melanoma and atopic

dermatitis. Next year the two themes will be psoriasis

and ageing skin.

Why have we taken this approach? Firstly, by

combining our resources the international exposure of

articles published in this series will increase enormously.

Secondly, because only Clinical and Experimental Derma-

tology is cited on Medline, authors who contribute to

H 1 G will benefit from a citation index for their

published manuscripts. Thirdly, together, both journals

can provide a better framework for the involvement of

high calibre international contributors to the `clinical

review series'.

We hope you will feel that this series represents a very

useful educational resource to practising dermatologists.

Our intention is to continue with this initiative for the

foreseeable future. As with all such ventures, feedback is

important and both editors would very much like to

hear your views.
