Key features: • Massive national reforestation activities,
promoting the planting of indigenous
species on all suitable land
• Education on forestry issues which is integrated into school curricula and schools involved in reforestation
• Promotion of wood-saving techniques and alternative energy sources
• Development of agro-forestry to improve soil and crop productivity, create rural income-generation and satisfy local timber demands
• Protection of indigenous plant species used for local traditional medicines

• Umuganda 2005: Public was shocked after collecting bags
