Deacon Everett & Deaconess Violet Brower
In the sixties, Deacon Everett and Deaconess Violet Brower met on a subway in New York City and on May 20, 1967 were joined together (49 years ago) in Holy Matrimony. With the blessing of the Lord, they look forward to celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary on May 20,
2017. They are the parents of one daughter, Ardelia Mason and grandparents of two grandsons and four great grandchildren.
Deacon Brower worked for 18 years as a gasoline hauler for Texaco Oil Company and Sunoco Oil Company in New York City. During this time, Deaconess Brower was a Cosmetologist and employed with UPS in New York. Due to a change in his career, they relocated to Virginia in 1987. Deacon Brower retired after 16 years in 2007 with IMTT of Chesapeake and Deaconess Brower worked as a CNA until she retired. Deaconess Brower enjoys exercising at Joseph E. Parker Center, going with the Sassy Red Hatter to the nursing home and lunch, and shopping. Hunting, fishing, and horseshoe pitching are Deacon Brower’s favorite pastimes. They are blessed to be able to travel to see most of the United States and parts of the world. The Browers are members of the Lake Cavalier Association with Deacon Brower serving as the President.
They are former members of Canaan Baptist Church of Harlem, New York. Deacon Brower serving as a layman for many years was called to the office of Deacon and ordained in 1980 under the leadership of Dr. Wyatt T. Walker.
After relocating to Virginia, they joined New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville) in 1988 and continue to serve the Lord faithfully. Deaconess Brower is a member of the Deaconess Ministry, Women’s Ministry and the Concert Choir while Deacon Brower is a member of the Deacon Ministry, Men’s Ministry (former Vice-Ministry Leader), Future Focus Team and Budget Committee. They both regularly attend Sunday School, Mid-week Prayer Service and Bible Study, and Vacation Bible School. Her favorite scripture is Philippians 4:13 and favorite Christian song, “I Am Redeemed” and his favorite scripture is Psalm 23 and “Love Lifted Me” is his favorite Christian song.
What do the Browers love about New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville): Deaconess Brower, “Family loving church” — Deacon Brower, “NFBCT has proven to be a family to me that shows love as a church family should”.
Deacon and Deaconess Brower are thankful that God has blessed them to be active “Seniors” doing what is pleasing to Him. May they continue to serve together, living each day to the fullest, and being an inspiration to all as they strive each day to do God’s will.
To our “Senior Couple” in the Spotlight, Deacon Everett & Deaconess Violet Brower; We love you, We thank you, and God bless you.
