2.Renew your arm license. Documents required: -

5. Posting-cum-residence certificate / recommendation from the Commanding / supervisory Gazette Officer is mandatory (In case of Armed Forces Personnel, and paramilitary forces only). Police personnel may also submit this proof. In that case 2nd proof of residence not required.

6. Only in case of involvement of a licensee in any criminal case, whether the case exists or has been quashed or otherwise, an affidavit regarding details and status of the criminal cases by the licensee will be required. Click to Download

7. Affidavit in case of Late Renewal Click to Download

-If the renewal is not late, fill the renewal form and affix Rs.5/- court fees stamp.Produce weapon and license for inpection at CFC. Pay the renewal fees. Renewal will be done immediately.

Procedure: -

The applicant should bring the application form along with required documents and the weapon(s) to the licensing unit within one month before or after the due date of renewal on any working day between 10.30 AM to 15.00 PM. 3.Sell/transfer/gift a weapon. a. to sell/transfer/gift weapon:-

Documents required: -

1. Application form Click to Download mentioning. the name and address of the authorized arms dealer, or the license number and photocopy of the individual buyer depicting clearly that he

/she has the authorization to buy the weapon.

2. Original Arms License. 3. Affidavit for sell/transfer/gift a weapon Click to Download

i. Submit an application with Rs.5/- court fees stamp and attach a copy of your license. ii. Inform Arms and Ammunition Branch with relevant documents. iii. It all documents are in order, sale permission will be issued within 15 days.

Procedure: -

The applicant should bring the application form along with the required documents to the Licensing Unit, on any working day between 10.30 AM to 15.00 PM. His arms license will be stamped accordingly. After expiry of 45 days period and in absence of any adverse report from local police, applicant should approach this office for obtaining permission to sell/transfer/gift the said weapon. He must sell the weapon with in 1 month of obtaining the permission.

Documents required: -

b. to delete weapon already sold/transferred/gifted:-

1. Application form on plain paper mentioning the detail of weapon to be deleted

2. Original arms license.

Procedure: -

After sale of weapon as above, the applicant should bring the application along with the Arm License in original to Licensing Unit for deletion of the weapon with in 15 days of sale of weapon.

4.Buy a weapon and endorse it on Arm License. Documents required: -

1. Application form Click to Download 2. If the weapon is purchased / procured from outside Mumbai or from an area where area extension

is not available to the licensee then o TL (Transport license or journey license from the place from where the weapon is to be

brought. It is issued by the concerned DM) o NOC (issued by Licensing Unit, Mumbai)

3. If weapon is purchased, then purchase slip/voucher from the arms dealer / factory. 4. In case of purchase from the arms dealer, stamp on the license booklet indicating the same shall

also be checked. 5. If weapon is taken from an individual, then 2 scenarios arise:

o 5.1 If transferor license is having a Mumbai license, then original arms license for deleting the weapon

o 5.2 If transferor is having Mumbai License, and outside licensing authority has already deleted the weapon, then self-attested photocopy of the arms license for records is sufficient.

o 5.3 If outside licensing authority has not deleted the weapon, then original arms license for making an entry in the license that weapon has been endorsed by us mentioning the transferee license name and license number and asking the concerned DM to delete the weapon from the transferor's license.

Procedure: - After grant of an Arm License the licensee can purchase the weapon for which the license is granted from any authorized Arm Dealer, Ordnance factory or any other Arms Licensee holder. After purchasing the weapon, the applicant can apply on the application form along with the requisite documents on any working day in the Licensing Unit between 10.30 Am to 15.00 PM. 5.Obtain permission to have more weapons (i.e add weapon in the license). Documents required: -

1. Application on plain paper mentioning the reasons for addition. 2. Copy of arms license booklet depicting clearly the no. and type of weapons already held by the

licensee. 3. Prescribed affidavit Click to Download 4. Documents pertaining to reasons of addition.

o In case of death/transfer of weapon on inheritance basis:- o Death certificate of the licensee in case of death only. o Weapon deposit permission in case of death of the licensee. o Weapon deposit receipt issued by the authorized arms dealer or the police station as the

case may be. o Indemnity bond Click to Download o NOC given by other legal heirs that they have no objection, if weapon is transferred to the

applicant.Click to Download o Arms license of the deceased or the transferor as the case may be. o In case of transfer of weapon the NOC/consent of licensee who intends to transfer his

weapon to his legal heir. Affidavit from the licensee to the effect that he/she has not objection for the transfer of the arm in the name of applicant and he/she shall not apply in future. Click to Download (consent form for affidavit of licensee).

5. In case of renowned shooters / sports activities. o Participation certificate of at least one State Level/Zonal Level/National Level Shooting

Competition recognized by National Rifle Association. o Certificate / recommendation from NRAI duly attested by Ministry of Youth Affairs and

Sports, Govt. of India, Mumbai, for addition of a weapon for practice and participation in the Shooting Competition.

o In case of retainers due to family safety / protection of crops. 1. Consent from the main licensee as well as the retainer. 2. Proof of agricultural activities, if applicable. 3. Proof of threat to the family, if applicable. 4. All the documents are same as required for fresh grant of license.

Procedure: -

Application can be made along with the required documents on any working day in the Licensing Unit during public dealing hours between 10.30 AM to 15.00 PM or by post. Approval or rejection will be conveyed to you by post. In case of approval, you may come for depositing the requisite fee and to get the requisite endorsement on the Arm License on any working day during public dealing hours. 6.Obtain permission to convert one kind of weapon to other. Documents required: -

Procedure: -

Application along with documents as above can be deposited in the Licensing Unit on any working day during public dealing hours (1.30 AM to 15.00 PM) or by post. Grant or rejection will be conveyed to you by post. In case of approval, you may come for depositing the requisite fee and to get the requisite endorsement on the Arm License on any working day during public hours. 7.Extend purchase period/revalidate Arm License if the Weapon is not purchased with in given time. A) If you have no weapon on the license and the validity expires the licensee is required to revalidate the license.

B) If you have the authority for more than one weapon and there is at least one weapon on the license but the other weapon has not been purchased at all, the purchase period is required to be extended if the same has expired.

8.Obtain duplicate booklet (in case of theft, fill up or damage).

The duplicate booklet of arms licenses are being issued under Rule 58 of the Arms Rules, 1962.

Documents required: -

1. Application on plain paper. 2. Original old license in case of damage or completion. 3. Copy of FIR or Non cognizable Report (NCR) if the arms license booklet has been lost along with

affidavit (Click to download). 4. An undertaking in the application itself mentioning that he/she will not misuse the license and if

the lost deposit the same to the licensing office if the lost license is found in future.

Procedure: -

9.Register your arms license on transfer to Mumbai. As per Rule-62 of Arms Rules-1962, the licensee has to intimate/apply with in period of 30 days of change of his/her residence to the new licensing Authority (in case of Mumbai, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Licensing Mumbai).

Documents required: -

1. Application form on prescribed format Click to Download 2. Three passport size photographs (self attested on the back side) out of which one should be pasted

on application form. 3. Original Arms License, 4. Weapon(s) for inspection. 5. (2 different proofs of residence like photocopy of recent Electricity Bill, Water Bill, Telephone

Bill, Driving License, Passport, Tax Return, Property/House Tax, etc. (self attested photocopies). Copy of PAN card would be accepted only if appended with a copy of Tax Return mentioning the address.)

6. Posting-cum-residence certificate / recommendation from the Commanding / supervisory Gazette Officer is mandatory (In case of Armed Forces Personnel, and paramilitary forces only). Police personnel may also submit this proof. In that case 2nd proof of residence not required.

7. In case of security guard, a certificate from his employer should be submitted about nature of his duties, period of stay in Mumbai, along with recommendation for registration.

8. Transportation License (TL) from DM/Concerned, if the area validity of the arm license is only for a state.

Procedure: -

The application can be made in the License Unit with the required documents on any working day during public dealing hours (10.30 AM to 15.00 PM) by the applicant. The same forms can be down loaded form the hyper links provided above or else can be obtained from the licensing unit.

10.Obtain NOC/genuineness, in case you have shifted to a state/UT outside Mumbai. As per Arms Rules 1962, the licensee has to intimate/apply with in a period of 30 days of change of his/her residence to the concerned Licensing Authority. The concerned Licensing Authority, on such application, asks this office requiring genuineness and NOC for our office.

Procedure: -

On receipt of any such correspondence from the concerned Licensing Authority, the record of the licensee is checked and on the basis of available record, the genuineness/NOC is issued to the licensing authority concerned.

Note:- Extension of Area validity of the licensee (to the new place where the licensee has shifted) is not required before registration with the new Licensing Authority as per Arms Rules 1962.

11.Extend area validity to other Cities/states/All India. Documents required: -

Procedure:-

Application along with required documents may be sent to this office by post or in person on any working day during public dealing hours (between 10.30 AM to 15.00 PM).

After scrutiny, the applications are sent to GNCT for approval if deemed fit.The decision of competent authority is conveyed to the applicant by post. In case of approval, he is asked to attend the office for necessary endorsement, which is done on the same day.

12.Surrender arm license. A)In case of death of licensee:- In case of death of the licensee, the relatives of the deceased (licensee) should come to Licensing Unit and submit the death certificate along with the original Arm License.

Weapon deposit permission shall be issued to them by the Licensing Unit for depositing the weapon belonging to the deceased with any authorized arm dealer or with the nearest police station.

Before cancellation, weapon will require to be disposed off. There are 4 options available to legal heirs for the disposal of weapon.

Option-1 Transfer of weapon to any legal hair having no license: In such case the legal hair will have to apply for new license on inheritance basis.

Option-2 Transfer of weapon to any legal heir having the license but not having permission for additional weapon.

Option-3 Sale of weapon to any authorized arms dealer or person.

Option-4 Gift of weapon to a museum or any agency after making it unusable.

Documents required: -

Option-1 Process is same as for grant of fresh license. Option-2 Photocopy of the license of the licensee who intends to

purchase the weapon of the deceased. Option-3 Name of any authorized arm dealer or the license photocopy of

an individual who wants to buy weapon. Option-4 Certificate from the authorized arm dealer that the weapon has

been made unusable. Procedure: -

On receipt of above documents, the weapon release permission is granted. On disposal of the weapon, the weapon is deleted as per laid down procedure and license is cancelled/revoked in records.

13.Obtain transport license for taking arms outside Mumbai. T.L is usually given in the following cases:- A) To enable a licensee with 'only Mumbai' validity to take weapon to another destination outside Mumbai where the licensee has shifted his residence.

Documents required: -

Procedure: -

The application along with documents can be submitted in Licensing Unit where is processed normally on the same day. The TL is normally granted for a period not longer than twice the predicted journey time

B) To enable a licensee with 'only Mumbai' validity to take weapon to another destination outside Mumbai where the licensee wishes to visit.

Documents required: -

The application along with documents can be submitted in Licensing Unit where is processed normally on the same day. The TL is normally granted for a period not longer than twice the predicted journey time

C) For licensees of other states who come to buy weapon from authorized Arms Dealers of Mumbai.

Procedure: -

The requests are processed on receipt of required documents and TL is issued on prescribed form.

14.Obtain NOC for bringing the weapon from outside Mumbai. It is given to a Mumbai based licensee for bringing the weapon from outside Mumbai.

Documents required: -

1. Application on plain paper 2. In case weapon is to be brought from any authorized factory – the proof of weapon allotment by

the authorized factory. 3. In case the weapon is to be brought from any individual arms licensee – the photocopy of the arms

license booklet of the individual depicting the 45 days notice on the arms license booklet of the transferor.

Procedure: -

On receipt of the required documents in the Licensing Unit on any working day during public hours, the NOCs are granted on the prescribed form.

15.Add/delete the name of a person as retainer (in case of bank or individuals). A) In case of individuals:

In this case consent from the main licensee is required. The retainer applicant shall be considered only if he is resident of Mumbai and shall be required to submit all the documents required for fresh grant of license and the same procedure mentioned therein like a fresh applicant shall be followed unless the retainer is already in possession of an arms license issued in Mumbai or registered in Mumbai.

Additional requirement for retainer (Individual case)

1. Consent from the main licensee as well as the retainer. 2. Proof of agricultural activities, if applicable. 3. Proof of threat to the family, if applicable.

B) In case of bank guards and other institutions 1. Documents required for fresh Bank Guard retainer:

o Proof of residence like photocopy of recent Electricity Bill, Water Bill, Telephone Bill, Driving License, Passport, Tax Return, Property/House Tax, etc. (self attested 2 photocopies). Copy of PAN card would be accepted only with a copy of Tax Return depicting the address.

o Photocopy of the Bank’s license. o Request letter from the bank for the addition of retainer guard.

16.Dispose off NSP weapon. A) In case of individuals:

In this case consent from the main licensee is required. The retainer applicant shall be considered only if he is resident of Mumbai and shall be required to submit all the documents required for fresh grant of license and the same procedure mentioned therein like a fresh applicant shall be followed unless the retainer is already in possession of an arms license issued in Mumbai or registered in Mumbai.

K. Fisheries boats shall not be used for the transport and for tourist/ passengers.
