mess around with. All the scans and X-rays have beennegative, but it=s just frustrating not to understandcompletely what=s going on. We have no immediategoals, other than to make sure that the horse ishealthy. I told our partners that it would be great to runin the [GI Kentucky] Derby, obviously, but I also toldthem that there=s lots of money that three-year-olds canrun for all year long.@ In a press release, trainer RickDutrow Jr. said, AI don=t see anything wrong with him. Idon=t think it would be smart to rush him into a racewhen we have a lot of time heading up to a race. He=snot showing his usual high energy. It would be stupidto rush him.@

ILLINOIS DERBY PURSE HALVED Officials atHawthorne Race Course applied for and received per-mission from the Illinois Racing Board to cut the pursefor the GII Illinois Derby in half, from $500,000 to$250,000. Additionally, the track will postpone thespring=s other graded stakes event, the GIII Sixty SailsH., until sometime during the fall meeting. Despite astatistically positive fall/winter stand in late 2010,Hawthorne had a difficult time overcoming a largepurse overpayment and was forced into this actionwhen the Illinois State Legislature failed to considermeasures which would have boosted racetrack reve-nues. In addition to the stakes changes, Hawthorne willnot race on Sundays, Mar. 27, and Apr. 3, 10 or 17,reducing the racing week to a four-day schedule andthe total number of live racing programs from 46 to 42.News cont. p6

One More BidThink about it. In this tough business climate, every bit counts. It’s a feed bill. New farm equipment.

The sales commission. Of course, we want to get you more than one more bid. But don’t discount it: the best businessmen and women focus on the smallest details.
