Mission Prayer Moments Here is an edited version of some comments from a young woman who grew up in FBC; whom many of you would know if her name were to be printed here. She speaks with wisdom and compassion from a heart that is tuned to God’s purposes in our world:

“Ramadan is the month-long time of intense fasting and prayer for Muslim peoples all over the world. It's an extended period of time where they literally do everything they can to focus on God (Allah). They do not eat or drink during daylight hours. In many Middle Eastern, Asian, and even some European countries, shops close during daylight hours. Life kind of stops, because if you are a "good" Muslim you are fasting, praying and focusing on experiencing God.”

While living in London, many of their closest friends were people of the Islamic faith. She recalls one night when they broke fast with some of their Sudanese friends. She said though there was much excitement, laughter and eating during late night meal:

“In my heart and mind there was a heaviness in this night. Yes it was fun and exciting, but it was also hard to sit there as the incense continued to burn and songs were shared because these beautiful people who had invited me in to their lives were doing so much with no assurance at all. No assurance that Allah would hear their prayers. No assurance that the fasting was getting them anywhere. No assurance that Allah would show them a revelation.

And that's why when you sit with them and they treat you like family, your heart is heavy and racing, because you know this great truth and you have experienced a special message from the one true God, if you are a follower of Jesus. That's the difference.

We as Christians believe that Jesus is the only way to be made right with God. Not good deeds. Not special prayers. Not the right clothes. Not where you live. Not how much money your family has. It's Jesus, and only Him. As a follower of Jesus, we know this special message from God, it's Emmanuel - God with us.

I write to you still feeling that heaviness that I felt years ago sitting in that small flat in London. Don't brush off this month. Don't roll your eyes or get angry that Muslims are praying and fasting. Don't think you have nothing to do with it. Because guess what? You do.

Muslims all over the world can't go to God the Father and speak to Him. Simply because they have never heard the true story of Jesus.

Mission Prayer Moments [continued]

The thought of speaking directly to God and Him hearing you and answering you is shocking to many Muslims.” …She asks of us:

“So why again should I care? How does this affect me? I live in a small rural town where there are not any Muslims. My life doesn't cross with anyone like that.

Oh boy. I would say YOU HAVE SUCH A PRIVILEGE BEFORE YOU. YOU HAVE A JOB BEFORE YOU. You get to pray for Muslims. You get to pray for Missionaries. You get to pray that Muslims will have dreams and visions. You get to pray that they will have a real revelation of God.

It's a get to, not a have to or obligated to kind of prayer. It's a heaviness filled with joy kind of prayer.

It can be overwhelming, I know. Maybe you need a little help, a guide perhaps? Below is a link that you can look at daily that will give you specific prayer points on what and how to pray for Muslims during Ramadan. Tonight our family talked through Day 3 before dinner and prayed right before we ate our meal. It can be as simple as that. Join us as we pray for our friends to know Jesus.” 30daysofprayer.com

Dwight’s Doodles Summer has started with something every day! We started with Mission Andalusia, VBS and New Camp already!! Father’s Day is right around the corner. We will have an all-male choir for that

Sunday. We have done this before with all men and young men filling the

choir loft. Come into the choir room right after Sunday School and help us fill the Loft for His glory! We will sing In Times Like These.

We are hosting the Church Choir of Providence Baptist Church, Auburn, AL on Friday, July 14 at 6p.m. This choir is conducted by the Auburn Professor in Music, Tom Smith. Tom is also the director of the Alabama Singing Men. Come worship with this church and support their tour. If you would like to join this group for supper following the concert please call and reserve you a spot by Sunday July 9!

Our Music Camp at FBC has a new date July 17-21! Our student camp had to be moved to our old date in June. I hope you will get your children enrolled in this wonderful week here. We will present our musical at the end of the week Friday July 21 at 6:30!

Our Adult Choir has a new book we are singing in with a track. We will sing our first song, I Am Blessed, from this collection this Sunday. I hope you will enjoy being led in worship through these songs.

I look forward to seeing you in worship this week ready to praise Him! My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to You. (Ps 71:23)

Blessings, Dwight
