Bring on the sunshine! There are so many activities to consider now that we have arrived in June. Take a nature walk at a park or on a trail. Eat outdoors at a restaurant or pack a delicious picnic along with some binoculars for bird watching. Go fishing and keep in mind that there are many bridges in our county allowing for those in wheelchairs to enjoy this activity too. Plant an herb garden as it pro-vides gardening fun as well as healthy and tasty ingredients for your favorite dishes. Visit a farmers market and pick-up fresh veggies, fruits or some pretty flowers. Wishing you wellness...Cassie Hollenbeck, Nutrition Director—264-5290

In 1958, after he contracted polio, Robin Cavendish was first told by doctors that, in his paralyzed state, he would live perhaps three months. Then he was told that he would spend whatever time he had in a hospital bed. Getting to Know The ASC...

The ASC Code of Conduct Center participants have the right to enjoy programs and receive services in an atmosphere that is pleasant, safe and without disturbance from other participants. To ensure that the senior center is an enjoyable experience for all who use it, disruptive or disturbing behavior is not permitted. Senior centers are intended for older adults who are able to function independently. The center is unable to offer personal care support. Any participant needing personal care support must have their own support person with them to take care of personal care needs. Senior center staff is also unable to provide one-on-one supervision due to behavioral, physical, or health related reasons.

Be Present and Accounted For! We determine program popularity by tracking the number of participants attending activities or classes. Attendance records also explain and justify the need for our center to the community with substantive data showing usage by members. We need your assistance to ensure our records are accurate. You can help by making sure you sign in on the roster for each activity. For example, in the Computer Room when using the computers or the Internet, in the Pool Room when playing pool, and in Room 2 when using the exercise equipment, computer, puzzles, cards or Wii. If you are participating in several activities, ensure that you sign in at each location and for each program. Thank you for helping to ensure that your favorite activities continue. The ASC Office is available to provide assistance or clarification. Please Help Us Keep Our Files Up-To-Date Stop by the ASC office and get your picture taken, make sure we have updated contact information including cell phone number and emergency contact information. Thank you!

Funding The Adrian Senior Center is a part by the Lenawee Department on Aging. Financial support through fundraising activities and donations provide for additional activities and programs.

Center Closure Policy It is the policy of the Adrian Senior Center to open and fully operate its programs as scheduled. The effects of severe weather and concern for the safety of our participants may, however, lead us to close the center. When this or closing for any other reason occurs, media announcements regarding closures or late openings will only be made on WLEN Radio-103.9 FM, and WABJ-1490 AM. You may also call 517-263-3585 for updates.

Note: The Adrian Senior Center’s decision to close or remain open is made independently from local school districts. There may be occasions when schools are closed, yet the ASC is open.

We are honored when families and friends choose to remember the Adrian Senior Center during such a difficult time. Contributions support the services and programs provided by the Adrian Senior Center for older adults in our community. Memorial donations totaling $100.00 or more in honor of a loved one will grant a lasting remembrance on the ASC Memorial Tree. A golden name plate with date will be added to the ASC Memorial Tree, which is located in the foyer of the Senior Center in their memory.
