INTRODUCTION
Food waste at consumer level in industrialised countries (222 million tons) is almost as high as the total net food production in sub-Saharan Africa (230 million tons).
40% of food in India is wasted.
Causes of food wastage:
If the food gets rotten it cant be eaten and gets wasted.
Some children hate vegetables and throw off the food they don’t like.
Five ways to prevent food wastage:Composting – Process which allows food
waste be converted into nutrient rich organic fertilizer
Donate to food banks when you don’t plan to use
Improve Food storage – techniques – Blanching, boiling & then freezing vegetables, canning fruites, etc.
Buy less food.
