Machli (T16): The lake tigress

has been awarded a lifetime achievement award and has been mother to five litters of tigers that havepopulated the park. Her last litter is that of three tigresses who have been seen very often around the lakesroaming free along with their mother providing us ample opportunity to understand tiger behaviour inthe wildernessthe wilderness.Facts about Machli – II (T16) At 17, she is possibly one of the world’s oldest living tigress in the wild.

She has survived many worst phases of tiger poaching in Rajasthan and successfullyreared her cubs to adulthood.

Of her litters: T3(Male), T13, T17 (Sundari) and T19 are prominent among the tigersoften seen in Rnthambore.

T38 and T39 are her grandchildren through T13 (the Sultanpur Tigress) and currentlyrange between Guda and Lahpur T13 is currently with cubs toorange between Guda and Lahpur. T13 is currently with cubs too.

Two of her daughters, the Lakarda Female and T18 were translocated to SariskaNational Park, Rajasthan in 2009.

She lost one of her canine in a fight with a 14 foot giant crocodile. It was after this that She lost one of her canine in a fight with a 14 foot giant crocodile. It was after this thatshe acquired the nick name ‘Crocodile Killer’.

MACHLI (T16) has been documented in several wildlife films and awarded a lifetimeachievement award by the UK-based Travel Operators for Tigers (TOFT), recently.
