{ Interface Project }About

For my interface project I chose and idea
of a bed alarm clock which would wake
up even a hardcore sleeper.
Before starting the projects, I came up
with a few ideas to choose from, such as
chair that scans your pulse, and plays
music according to music according to your heart beat.
There was also a coat that adjusts its temperature automatically, for example if you are
cold, it will start heating up, so that the temperature stays neutral every time, and
you don’t sweat of freeze.
But all there ideas where too basic, not enough interaction, so I decided to make
something that is not only useful, but also fun, and has a few interaction options.
So I had an idea to make a bed-alarm clock.
An alarm that would wake up no matter
what. So how does it work?
first step is to setup the time and
date on the touch screen panel.
You can setup the aggressiveness
of music, or just pick a custom track.
And there is also a shaking power And there is also a shaking power
setting up option.
After that, the next day, when alarm goes off, bed starts shaking, and plays loud music.
So what do you do to stop it?
The first step is to get up, and the bed will stop shaking, but music will not stop playing.
Instead, you will see a screen pop-out from behind the bed with lyrics of the song.
So to stop the music you will need to sing for minimum 30 seconds (you can setup your
own time) own time)
To make it more effective, you have 2 large speakers
on the top of the bed, little ones ( can be hidden)
right under the big ones. And there is also a pair of
extra speakers that pop-out from left and right sides.

To produce the final outcome and
experiments, I decided to create
a few sketches and collages to see
the final look of the interface.
In one of the experiments I show
how it is possible to connect
something that vibrates to the
alarm clock.
A brief collage for the main experiment
which shows the whole idea, and how
would the bed work. There is also a
screen design for setting up the alarm
clock.
Sketches
All the experiments are film-based.
First I record the raw footage, and then
add special effects and sound effects to
make it as real as possible so that the
user would understand how it works.
{ Interface Project }Experiment №1

}
This was my first
experimenting which I
wanted to show how the
device would look. So
what I did is took some
pictures, and animated
them in After Effects, so them in After Effects, so
it would look as good as
possible.
Video starts with a few sketches I
made earlier, they are shown with
highlights of everything that makes
the bed work. This was just an
introduction to the actual animation.
so people would understand the
concept and idea.concept and idea.
After the introduction
the main animation is
shown so that people
could actually see the
device in use. Everything
pops-up out from behind pops-up out from behind
the bed, like speakers,
slim screen for lyrics,
and double speakers
That pop out from the sides to provide more powerful sound. You also have a little setup
screen that pops out on the side, so the user can set up the time, day, volume, vibration
power and music track or aggressiveness.
I also tried to animate everything as realistic as possible, so I added some physical effects
and sound effects when everything pops out from the bed.

This is the second experiment
in which I decided to show
how it is possible to connect
vibrating engine to the alarm
clock.
There is a lot of things that
vibrate, buy I chose
Playstation joystick and mobile
phone.
I made a short video
experiment in After Effects experiment in After Effects
with some animation and
sound effects that illustrates
how it would work in reality
if you connect clock and
vibrating engine.
AAt first I was thinking about
making a real thing, and
try to put everything
together, but due to some
circumstances I had to
give up that idea, and
stick with a simple video
explanation.explanation.
Experiment №2
{ Interface Project }
} This was my main
experiment and user
testing. I made a video
which explains all the
steps and the setup.
There is also an explanation on how to use the setup for the alarm clock, which is
shown as a touch screen.
Video goes on for 1 minute 6 seconds, everything starts with an explanation why is this
device not only fun, but really useful for people who have hard time getting up in the
mornings.
After a short explanation, everything is explained step by step with written comments
below. First you have the user sleeping and waking up because of the bed shaking and
loud music, after that he needs to stand up. The screen with lyrics pops up, and the
user needs to sing for about 30 seconds.

I decided to make my
portfolio website all about
the work. So all you see
when you go to
www.knyaz.co.uk
is logo, icons, and footer.
The rest is The rest is my works that
have hover effect. This was
not the first layout version,
I think I changed it more
than 10 times before
uploading it to FTP.
At first works preview where colored, but it seemed too messy, so I gave it black and
white look, so now it looks more serious. Icons are animated, and in the footer you
have all of the social networks I’m in, plus link to stock portfolio.
The coding was a new
thing for me. Never coded
but always wanted to
manage my own portfolio
website, and now I can.
I also made a subdomain
on my website for the
interface experiments, and
changed the layout a little
bit.
