We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for being apart of the 1st Annual Forum on Latino/a Affairs - a meeting place to

discuss issues pertinent to our community.

Our planning committee is excited to bring to you the first Forum – a real labor of love. The vision for this conference began more than a

year ago. Planning such an event has been an adventure for us, and we are excited that you are here today to experience it with us!

We would like to extend a special thanks to all of our panelists who

are spending their weekend with us. We would also like to thank everyone who traveled far to be here with us today!

The Forum hopes to identify the most pertinent issues affecting our community. This year, the planning committee chose to focus on the topics of health and education. With that idea in mind, who better to

speak on it, than members in our community and others who work on these topics in their daily lives? We hope that the Forum will give you the opportunity to learn more about these topics, foster a safe

space for you to engage in open dialogue with other attendees, and energize you to go into the community and really make a difference

by getting involved!

The Forum on Latino/a Affairs doesn’t end with the conference. The exploration and discussion on the problems in our community is

never-ending and will always need members of our community for support. Check out the ways to get involved on page 8!

Tips for Using Live Social Media •  Share quotes from

speakers and include their twitter handle or FB page.

•  Engage with speakers and fellow attendees! If you’re replying to someone make sure to put a period in front of their handle so it tweets all of your followers.

We encourage you to engage in the conversation!

For our friends without smartphones, we’ve provided you with small index card to write questions on – we

will collect them during the panels!
