Uniform Definitions

direct education activities (regardless of the number of times he or she has participated)
• “Unduplicated count”
– Contact: An interaction in which a FSNE participant participates in a direct education activity
• Note: These definitions only apply to Direct Education
Scenario #1
• Q: Mrs. Jones attends a six (6) lesson nutrition education series at her local community center. The series runs from January through March. How is this information recorded?
• A: Once (1) as a participant and five (5) times as a contact
Uniform Definitions
• Direct vs. Indirect– Direct: Interventions where a participant is actively
engaged in the learning process with an educator and/or interactive media
– Indirect: Distribution of information and resources, including any mass communications, public events, and materials distribution that DO NOT meet the definitions of Direct Education or Social Marketing campaigns
