    This study course is designed to be done both in a

    course room, mosque, study-group or self-pacedat home. Certain parts of this course (Key WordStudy) will be done with a partner. Other partswill be done independently (by yourself). Whenits time to partner, you and your partner (twin)are to follow the steps provided in this guide.The study course is laid out in the order you dothem.It is important not to skip any steps of theguide. THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE TO BEFOLLOWED IN OUR CLASSES.

    Purpose of this Study Course Guide:

    The purpose of this study course guide is to guideyou through this course of study.

    Time to Complete:

    Although the hour and a half that we have forstudy this evening will hopefully allow you toprogress through most of this study, however it isstrongly recommend that you continue to workon this study course at home at your own pace.

    Important Note: During the study course

    session, if you have any questions raiseyour hand for assistance.Each believer(student) should have a copy of this handout andits instructions to take home and continuestudying on their own. All steps may not becompleted in the class sessions in its entirety.

    Study Course StepsStep 1: Key Word ClearingKey words are important words related tokey concepts found in the reading. Having agood understanding of the meanings of these

    words will help each student betterunderstand the important concepts and ideasof the study, as well as eliminatemisunderstandings that come withmisunderstood words. Use the key word listand definitions found in this packet to do thedrill (exercise) a and b.

    1.) Select a partner (closest to you) and study theKey Words together, through reviewingthe questions and answers to master. (Ifdone in course room or mosque/studygroup the time allotted is 30-45 minutes)

    2.) First time through: The student has thequestions and answers in front of him orher. The partner asks the student thequestion, and the student answers it.He/She can look at the answer if needed.The answer does not have to beword-for-word or memorized; just

    the concept must be correct.

    3.) Second time through: Once finished withthe drill the first time, you start againfrom the beginning, this time withoutthe answers in front of you. Yourpartner asks the question and youanswers. If the answer is incorrect, yourpartner shows you the answer. Look at theanswer again and repeat until you havegrasped the concept, then continue to thenext one.

    Step 2: Independent ReadingAfter completing step one, you may begin toread the selected reading materials.

    Step 3: Check Your UnderstandingQuestions: Time Frame: 30 minReview the lists of questions. Each questionis formulated to check your understanding ofthe key concepts and ideas found in thereading. Answer each question on a sheet ofpaper and be prepared to discuss your

    answers at the conclusion of this session.Sufficient time may not be given during classsession to answer all of the questions. If youdo not finish in class, please continue thisstep at home.

    What is a mystery?

    A mystery is anything that is kept secret or remains

    unexplained or unknown; any truth that is

    unknowable except by divine revelation.

    What is the definition of downright?

    Downright means thorough; absolute; out-and-out;

    frankly direct; straightforward.

    What is a crook?

    A crook is a dishonest person, especially a sharper,

    swindler, or thief.

    What does Babylonrefer to?

    Babylon refers to an ancient city of SW Asia, on the

    Euphrates River, famed for its magnificence and

    culture: capital of Babylonia and later of theChaldean empire. It also refers to any rich and

    magnificent city believed to be a place of excessiveluxury and wickedness.

    What does the term fortifiedmean?

    Fortified means to protect or strengthen against

    attack; surround or provide with defensive military

    works; to furnish with a means of resisting force or

    standing strain or wear; to make strong; impart

    strength or vigor to.

    What isblasphemy?Blasphemy is impious utterance or action concerning

    God or sacred things; in Theology it is the crime ofassuming to oneself the rights or qualities of God;

    irreverent behavior toward anything held sacred,

    priceless, etc.

    What does it mean topersecute?

    To persecute is to pursue with harassing or oppressive

    treatment, especially because of religion, race, or

    beliefs; harass persistently.

    What does the term to sackmean?To sack means to to pillage or loot after capture;

    plunder.

    What doespardonmean?

    To pardon is a release from the penalty of an offense;

    a remission of penalty, as by a governor; forgiveness

    of a serious offense or offender.

    What is the definition of fall?

    To fall means to drop or descend under the force of

    gravity, as to a lower place through loss or lack ofsupport; to come or drop down suddenly to a lower

    position, especially to leave a standing or erect

    position suddenly, whether voluntarily or not; to

    become less or lower; become of a lower level,

    degree, amount, quality, value, number, etc.;

    decline.

    What does it mean to flee?

    To flee is to run away, as from danger or pursuers;

    take flight.

    What is the definition ofpartake?

    To partake is to take or have a part or share alongwith others; participate; to receive, take, or have a

    share or portion.

    What does deliverancemean?

    Deliverance means to rescue from moral corruption

    or evil; salvation.

    What is retaliation?

    Retaliation is the act of taking retributive action,

    especially by returning some injury or wrong in kind.

    What does it mean to be non-repentant?

    To be non-repentant is to not feel sorry, self-reproachful, or contrite for past conduct.

    What is a haven?

    A haven is any place of shelter and safety; refuge;

    asylum.

    What is the definition of conscience?

    Conscience is the inner sense of what is right or

    wrong in one's conduct or motives, impelling one

    toward right action; the complex of ethical and

    moral principles that controls or inhibits the actions

    or thoughts of an individual.

    What does the term confoundmean?To confound is to perplex or amaze, especially by a

    sudden disturbance or surprise; bewilder; confuse.

    What is a snare? - noun

    A snare is a device, often consisting of a noose, for

    capturing small game; anything serving to entrap or

    entangle unawares; trap.

    What does it mean to snare? verb

    To snare is to catch with a snare; entangle; to catch

    or involve by trickery or wile.
