You might want to revisit a subject you have already studied or learn about a new one – your choice! *If you don’t have access to the internet, focus on what you remember from one of the topics we have studied this year: the Maya, the Romans or the Vikings.*

Make notes here about all that you learn.

Chosen Topic: _________________________

2). Create a poster that shares the facts you have learnt about that time in history. Ideally, we would like this done in Word or Publisher so you can brush up on your organisation skills. Below is a reminder of how to do the different skills. If an adult is

Bramley Church of England PrimaryTask 8: Maths – Sorting Shapes by their Properties

Shapes have lots of different properties, today we are going to look at parallel lines and right angles. Parallel lines always stay the same distance apart, so they will never cross no matter how long they go on for. An angle is where the lines meet and a right angle is when the lines meet at exactly 90⁰. Right angles can be found on the corner piece of paper and the corner of a book.

Task: Draw a larger version of this Venn diagram and sort the shapes, on the next page, into the correct places. Remember, the middle section means the shape has both properties.

There are 2 examples for you:

The videos and activities on these web pages will help you learn more about angles parallel and perpendicular lines.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zb6tyrd/articles/zg68k7h - Angles

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zb6tyrd/articles/zp327hv - Parallel and Perpendicular lines.

These are the shapes you need to sort onto your Venn diagram:21

These two lines on this shape are parallel because

they are the same distance apart and will

never cross.

These two corners are right angles (90⁰).

If you don’t have a protractor you can use the corner of a piece of paper to check this!

This polygon has one set of parallel lines and two right angles so it goes in the middle of the Venn diagram.

This triangle has a right angle and no parallel lines so goes in this section of the Venn diagram.

Page 22: fluencycontent2-schoolwebsite.netdna-ssl.comfluencycontent2-schoolwebsite.netdna-ssl.com/File...  · Web viewCreate your information page about the Prey animal of your choice. Maths.

Bramley Church of England PrimaryCut them out and stick them on OR draw them with a pencil and ruler. Remember you can check for right angles using the corner of a piece of paper if you do not have a protractor at home.

Challenge : In my example I explained why I put the shapes where I did. Your challenge is to

choose 2 or more shapes and explain why you have put them where you have.

Task 9: PSHE / Art – Hope

22

Page 23: fluencycontent2-schoolwebsite.netdna-ssl.comfluencycontent2-schoolwebsite.netdna-ssl.com/File...  · Web viewCreate your information page about the Prey animal of your choice. Maths.

Bramley Church of England PrimaryKatherine Rundell has put together ‘The Book of Hope’ containing pictures, poems and short stories by a wide range of authors and illustrators. Here’s a selection of the pictures of HOPE I really liked.

Here’s the link if you would like to explore it some more.https://literacytrust.org.uk/family-zone/9-12/book-hopes/

Your task is create your own picture of HOPE. You can ‘borrow’ ideas from these pictures or come up with your own! Use pencils, pens, paints, watercolours, collage – whatever you think would be effective! Please ask your grown-ups to share it on our

Yr3&4 Facebook page if you are pleased with your efforts.

Task 10: Information PagesYou are going to create a fact file, leaflet or poster all about 1 prey animal. Choose one of the prey animals we watched in the film clip (or another of your choice) to research Today is a research/ gathering ideas day:There is lots to think, research and write about, I have grouped the information you might want to talk about:

24

Where does it live? What is it like there? Is there a special reason it lives

there?

What does it eat? What special skills / techniques

does it have? What does it need / do in order

to survive?

Is it the predator of another prey animal?

How does it survive? Is it an endangered species? If

so, what can we do to protect it?

Could you draw a picture and label the different parts?

Do you know any interesting facts about it?

Have you ever seen one in real life?

At the top of each box / section, come up with a suitable subheading. Some could be questions, some could be statements.

Your ResearchKey Skills:

*write as NOTES, not full sentences

*try to include key vocabulary: technical / topic vocabulary

*make sure the information goes in the correct group.
