Look at this example: Talk to someone at home about this method. Use Rosie’s method to work out: 1) 6 x 28 2) 5 x 32 3) 6 x 34 4) 7 x 45 5) 4 x 58 Literacy – Short story This week you are going to continue a short story. The story is called the Lighthouse, what do you think it will be about? What do you think will happen? Watch the 1 st minute - Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HfBbSUORvo Why do you think the lighthouse keeper slams the window? Why does the author put this scene in? How is tension created in the film? Create a short storyboard about the film.

Numeracy – Written multiplicationWe are going to start this week looking at the short written method for multiplication and then use this to help us solve problems and calculate perimeter.Look at this example:

Talk to someone at home about this method.Use Rosie’s method to work out:

1) 6 x 282) 5 x 323) 6 x 344) 7 x 455) 4 x 58

Literacy – Short storyThis week you are going to continue a short story. The story is called the Lighthouse, what do you think it will be about? What do you think will happen? Watch the 1st minute -

Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HfBbSUORvoWhy do you think the lighthouse keeper slams the window? Why does the author put this scene in? How is tension created in the film?

Create a short storyboard about the film.

SPaG – fronted adverbialshttps://wordwall.net/resource/49198/english/fronted-adverbial-starters-random-wheelPlay the game to randomly generate fronted adverbials and then complete your own sentence using this word. If you think of any good ones remember them for your story writing this week.

Numeracy – Correspondence ProblemsWe are going to look today at find all possible combinations and being able to find a multiplication calculation to show the combinations.

If a canteen has 1 bread choice and 2 filling choicesBread – WhiteFilling – Jam or Cheese

The combinations could be:Jam on whiteCheese on white

To write this as a multiplication it would be 1 (bread choice) x 2 (filling choices)Now try the questions below.

Literacy – story writingRe-watch The Lighthousehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HfBbSUORvoToday you are going to start thinking about writing your own short story based on the setting of The Lighthouse, you can keep the characters the same or include your own.

Page 3: fluencycontent2-schoolwebsite.netdna-ssl.comfluencycontent2-schoolwebsite.netdna-ssl.com/FileCluster…  · Web view2 days ago · Create a short storyboard about the film. SPaG

First of all we are going to look at using our senses to really describe the setting.Write at least 5 expanded noun phrases for hear, see, touch and smell. Hear – the gigantic, ferocious wavesSee – immense gloom, surrounding the light beamTouch - cold, bare wall cobblesSmell – dank, stale air

SPaG – paragraphsThink carefully about what you know about paragraphs then take the quiz:https://www.educationquizzes.com/ks2/english/paragraphing/Use the ideas to help you paragraph your short story on Friday.

Art - As it is now officially summer I’d like you to follow instructions to make an origami flower. I would be interested to know if your flower floats!

Page 4: fluencycontent2-schoolwebsite.netdna-ssl.comfluencycontent2-schoolwebsite.netdna-ssl.com/FileCluster…  · Web view2 days ago · Create a short storyboard about the film. SPaG

Can you work out the perimeter of the following shapes and write it as multiplication. Don’t forget the measure unit! (cm or km)

Literacy – character descriptionToday you will be thinking about your Lighthouse keeper. Will they be like the one in the film? Or different? Use the template below as a prompt to begin gathering ideas about your character.

Page 5: fluencycontent2-schoolwebsite.netdna-ssl.comfluencycontent2-schoolwebsite.netdna-ssl.com/FileCluster…  · Web view2 days ago · Create a short storyboard about the film. SPaG

SPaG – their, there and they’re‘Their, they’re and there’ are homophones, although they are spelt differently and mean different things. ‘Their’ is a possessive pronoun and means that something belongs to them, ‘they’re’ is a contraction of ‘they are’; and ‘there’ is used to mean a place or position.Try the quizhttps://www.educationquizzes.com/ks2/english/their-theyre-and-there/

Science – states of matterWatch the clip, then see if you can explain the experiment to someone else at home and what the conclusion was. If you have lemonade at home maybe you could try this experiment. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/zhbygk7

ThursdayTimes TablesSpend at least 15 minutes a day practising your times tableshttps://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button

Numeracy – Perimeter of rectilinear shapes

Page 6: fluencycontent2-schoolwebsite.netdna-ssl.comfluencycontent2-schoolwebsite.netdna-ssl.com/FileCluster…  · Web view2 days ago · Create a short storyboard about the film. SPaG

Now try the following questions, remember you may need to find out the length of any unlabelled sides.

Literacy – Story planAll stories have a beginning, middle and end. Your story will also need a problem and a resolution. Today I want you to plan your story about the Lighthouse (you can use the video story or you can change the character, problem and resolution)Plan your story using the story mountain below. In your opening you will describe your setting and character(s). Think carefully about your build up, problem and resolution. Don’t forget to include the types of conjunctions that you will use.

Mo is incorrect, he is correct that the perimeter of the small rectangles is 16cm but when you put the rectangles together and calculate the distance around the new shape it is (10 x 2) + (3 x 2) = 26cm.

Now you try:

Literacy – short storyToday I would like you to write up your short story ‘The Lighthouse’. Use you character and setting description plans along with the story mountain. You can write this in an email and then send it to Miss Smith. Don’t forget to check and edit your work for correct punctuation, grammatical sense and interesting expanded noun phrases. I look forward to reading your stories!

SPaG – Apostrophe’shttps://www.educationquizzes.com/ks2/english/apostrophes-to-mark-omission/

Science – The water cycleAfter your experiments on parts of the water cycle last week, let’s see what you have learnt.https://www.educationquizzes.com/ks2/science/the-water-cycle/
