President’s Report:Thereport,aspublishedinthe2014annualreport,waspresentedbythePresident,Scott Larsen.ScottstatedtheMWFAAGMwasbeheldon24thNovember2014andallFKFC currentcommitteewereinvitedtoattendandthatwewouldrequireatleasttwocommittee representativestoattend.Scottthankedallthecommitteefortheirhardworkduring2014andstatedthatnextyeartheprimarychallengefortheclubwouldbeaccessingtrainingfieldsasourhomegroundatMelwoodwouldbesubjecttomajorconstructionworkscommencingMarch2015.ThenewMelwoodallweathersurfacesarethesubjectofanMOUsignedbetweenFKFCandWarringahCouncilwhichrecognizesa$100,000.00cashcontributionthatlinksFKFCtopreferentialtreatmentforfieldbookingsandcappedaccessfees.

ScottconfirmedthefollowingmattersarebeingdiscussedwithMWFA:1. Killarneyovalwillbeourobvioushomegroundnextyearwithextrafieldsforour6/7agegroupstobemarkedup.Food/canteenoptionsneedtobediscussedandrobturnerkindly offeredtohelpconstructamakeshiftBBQareaattheKillarneyclubhouse.

2. Cromer1willbeourhomegroundonalternateweekendstoManlyUnited.MWFAwillalso allocateCromer2-5asourotherhomegrounds.

3. MWFAareapproachingBTHandletthemknowweneedtouseBambaraasatrainingandplayinggroundforourjuniorsaswellasKillarney.Ithaslightsandisquitelocalandthiswillbe asharedarrangementwithBTH.

4.IwouldthinkthatCromer2-5andKillarneywouldbeourtraininggroundforourseniorteams.TheActuallogisticsarestilltobethoughtoutbutthisisagoodresultfortheclub.

Scottadvisedthatin2010afiveyearplanhadbeencompletedbythethencommitteeandtheneedtoproduceanupdatedversionwasuponus.Thekeyelementstoincludewasplayer developmentandfinancialstrengthoftheclub.

Itisreallyimportantthatasacommittee,wepresentapositiveperspectivetothelossof Melwoodnextyear.Atourplanningmeetingwewillbedraftinga“informationpage”togoout toourmembersandplayers.Pleaseputthefollowingdateinyourdiary:

Election of Office BearersThepresidentthankedallthe2014Committeemembers,Sub-committeemembersand volunteersfortheireffortsandcommitmentthroughouttheyearandnotedthattheclubwould notfunctionwithoutthededicationandteamworkthatthesecontributorsrepresent.

InaccordancewiththeConstitution,thePresidentthendeclaredallcommitteepositionsvacantandhandedthechairtothereturningofficer(WarrenMeppem)fortheelectionofofficebearerstobeassistedbyscrutineers;RobTurnerandCathyColling.Warrenofferedhisthanksand commendationtotheoutgoingcommitteemembersfortheircontributiontothecluband thankedlifemembersfortheircontinueddedicationtotheclub.

TheReturningofficerofferedhiscongratulationstothenewlyelected2014seasoncommitteemembersandwishedthemwellwiththeirendeavoursforthecomingyear.HethenvacatedthechairwhichwasreturnedtoScottLarsen,theelectedPresidentforthe2014season.ScottdulythankedWarrenMeppemforofficiatingasreturningofficerfortheseelections.

Matters Arising:l Scottstatedthatitwouldbeimportanttobeginliaisonwithanylikelycandidatesfortheopendesignatedcommitteerolesandseektorecruitforthenon-designatedroles.ThesuccessionplanningatFKFCwillbeanongoingpriorityandthisneedstoberecognisedandsupportedbycommitteeandlifemembers.Scottthankedallthosenewandreturningcommitteemembers andlookedforwardtoasuccessful20-15season.

l ScottraisedthematteroftheclosureofMelwoodprecinctduringWarringahCouncil constructionoftheall-weatherfieldsandlandscapingaroundthesite.ItwasagreedthatFKFCwouldshiftthecanteenandbbqtoKillarneyfieldsduringseason2015.Thiswasrecognised asamandatoryrequirementunderMWFAregulationsgiventhatwehostjuniorteams.

l ScottclosedbyaddingthatherecognisesthefactthatFKFChasagreatfutureandwill onlygrowasafootballclubfollowingtheestablishmentoftheall-weatherfieldsin2015/16. Hisfocuswillbetowardsdevelopingfootballforallagegroupsfromsub-juniortoALlevelsand createFKFCasaclubthatwillattractnewplayersandlooksforwardtoadvancingtheclub toaneweraofsuccessonandoffthefield.

l AclosingrequestwasmadetoLifeMembersofFKFCtomaintaincontactwiththecommitteeandtohelpthecommitteeliaisewithlifemembersbyprovidingupdatedemailcontactdetails. HeaddedthatFKFCprovideupdatedinformationonallclubactivitiesthroughE-Mediawith theclubsofficialwebsiteandFacebookpage.

Meeting Closed:Therebeingnofurtherbusiness,Scottthankedallpresentfortheirattendanceandinvited themtostayforsnacksandlightrefreshments.

TO ALL FOREST KILLARNEY FOOTBALL CLUB FAMILY AND MEMBERSAsseason2015hasdrawntoaclosewecanlookbackonamassiveyearforourclub andcommunity.

WithsupportfromMWFA,Warringahcouncilandall16clubswithinourregionalongand supportfromourlocalcommunitytheMelwoodSyntheticFieldswereofficiallyopenedon August152015byWarringahMayorMichaelRegan.Theopeningceremonywasattended bypastandpresentcommittee,lifemember,parents,playersaswellasrepresentativesfrom othersportingcodes.

WewillcontinuetoworkcloselywithcouncilandMWFAasweplantoupgradeourcurrent facilities.

ThefirstgameonthesyntheticpitchwasheldonWednesday12AugustatnightbetweenFKFC16/1versusStAugustine’s.TheFKFCtriumphedinagreatgameoffootballwatchedbyalargecrowd.Aspresidentitwasaveryproudmomentandreflectedcountlesshoursofworkfrom currentandpriorcommittees.

Wealsohadmen’sandwomen’sPremierLeaguesemifinalsplayedatMelwoodforthefirsttimeever.Thefeedbackfromallteamswaspositiveandthehillwaspackedwithspectators.Iwouldliketothankallteamsfortheirpatiencein2015astrainingspacewasatapremium. ThecooperationbetweenteamsforspaceatKillarneyhighschoolwasareflectionofeachcoach’spatienceandsupportfortheendresult.WithsupportfromMWFAwealsoaccessedCromer5forourmen’sseniorteamsaswellasBambaraOval.

Onthefieldourregistrationsgrewto1150players,150volunteerswithgrowthanticipated forseason2016.Wehadgreatsuccessatallageswithourboys12/1,12/2,12/3,18/4and Ladies16/3’sallgrandfinalwinners.CongratulationstothoseteamsthatplayedfinalfootballthisyearwiththegreenofForestKillarneywellrepresented.

Twoteamsplayedchampionofchampionsandshouldbecongratulatedontheirsuccess.Our16/1teamcoachedbyMarkArmstrongwereundefeatedduringtheregularseason andwereknockedoutinthequarterfinalsofchampionofchampions.

Our12/1teamcoachedbyWarwickAndrews,werealsoundefeatedwinningthegrandfinal andplacingrunnerupinthegrandfinalofchampionofchampions.TofinishasthesecondplacedteamacrossNSWandtoonlyloseviapenaltyshootoutwasafantasticresult.

Bothteamsplayedwithskillandflairandwerewonderfulrolemodelsbothonandofthefield.2015sawanincreaseinteamsponsorshipanditwasgreattoseeteamsfromunder6rightthroughtoourover45’swithindividualteamsponsorship.OnbehalfoftheclubIwouldlike tothankoutsponsor’sfortheirsupportthroughout2015.

IwouldliketocongratulateLukeDorizasonwinningtheclubpersonoftheyear. Lukecontributesatcoaching,playingandorganisingtheMensAL2squadandhas volunteeredthroughouttheyearcontributingcountlesshourshelpingtheclub.

IwasalsoliketoacknowledgeMelBalmentwhohaswonthePresidentsAwardfor2015.MelhasbeenourcanteencoordinatorforanumberofyearsandwasespeciallybusythisyearwithbothMelwoodandKillarneyrunningthisyear.MelhasbeenselflesswithhertimeandenergyandonbehalfoftheclubIwouldliketothankBothLukeandMelfortheircontributionin2015.

2016willbeanexcitingyearfortheclubasweutilizethefieldsforanentireseason.Wehaveplantoimplementsaskillsdevelopmentsquadforplayersatalowerdivisionwhowishto improveaswelldevelopmentsquadsforplayersatahigherlevel.Asacommunityclubweaim toofferservicesforplayersofalldifferentlevelsandtheylearnthegame.

Wewillalsooffercoachesthecoachessessionsin2015withnegotiationscurrentlyinthe pipelinetobringcoacheswithA-leagueexperienceon-boardtorunsessions.Watchthisspace!!IwouldliketothankandacknowledgethecurrentFKFCcommittee.Withoutthehardworkandlonghoursbythevolunteersoncommittee,theclubwouldn’tfunction.

FinallyIwouldtothankeachplayer,parentcoachandmanagerforyourtimeandeffortduringthe2015season.I’mlookingforwardtoahugeseason2016inthegreenatFKFC.

OnapersonalnoteIwouldlikethankeveryonefortheirsupportinwhathasbeenadifficult yearformyfamily.Thecommunitysupportwasoverwhelmingandhighlightedtomyfamily whatawonderfulcommunitywelivein.

Congratulations to Maree Vasey who won the MWFA excellence in administration award.

The2015seasonwasa landmarkyearwherewe witnessedtheconstruction of our new home ground at Melwood.Theopeningday on15thAugust2015markedthe commencement of a new erafortheForestKillarney FootballClub(FKFC). Webeganplanningforthe increasedusageofthenewall-weathergroundswiththerealisationthatthefacilitywouldstarttoattractinterestfromcommercialorganisationsandfromclubsoutsideourarea.

WithsupportfromWarringahCouncil,FKFCconfirmedbookingsforourfirstForestSummerFootball(smallsided)competitionsandwewillbeworkingtowardsmakingthisapartofotherinitiativestocreateastrongandinnovativefutureforFKFC.

TheClubsWebsiteandOfficialFacebooksiteisdedicatedtoplayersandFKFCteamsandwereached700genuine“Likes”onFacebookthroughoutthe2015season.Facebookcontinuestobeagreatbroadcastandmessagefacilityforourplayingandassociatemembers.

Iwouldliketoappealtothewidercommunitywithintheplayer/familiesassociatedwithFKFCtogetinvolvedinhelpingwiththemanydutiesthatareessentialtohaveawell-functioningclub.Withsomanyyoungpeopleplayingweneedmoreparentsinvolvedinvolunteeringincommittee rolestosupportourgreatclub.Theclubisrunbyaverysmallgroupofpeopleandwerequiremorevolunteersfor2016andbeyond,soIwouldcallonplayers,ex-players,parentsand anybodyinterestedinthefutureofForestKillarneyF.C.togiveafewhoursoftheirtimetohelpensuretheclubcanoperate.Weneedpeopleinadministrationandorganisationalroles,groundsetup,kitdistributiondays,registrationdays,awardsdays,sponsorshipmanagement,canteenandfoodandbeverageservices,coachingandplayerdevelopmentandhelpinginanyway.

Inclosing,Iwishtothankmyfellowcommitteeandallmembersfortheirencouragement enthusiasmanddedicationtotheclub.Congratulationstotheteamsthatreachfinalsat FKFCandwesalutealltheplayerswhocompetedinseason2015andalltheparents andcoachesandManagerswhohelpedmakeithappen.Welookforwardtowelcoming everyoneforSeason2016.

WiththedevelopmentandupgradeofMelwoodOval,2015wouldbeadifficultseasonfor theclubfinancially.Itwasdecidedthatregistrationfeeswouldnotbeincreased,aswe wantedourmemberstoremainwithFKFCduringwhatwouldbeaninconvenientyear. Itwassurprisinglyrewarding,toseethattheregistrationsdidgoupfromlastseason.

Despitetheovalbeingclosedforthemajorityoftheseason,bartakingprofitswereupfrom thepreviousyear.AlimitedmenuofBBQanddrinksweresoldatKillarneyOvalonSaturdaymornings,andasmallamountofprofitwasmadefortheclub.

AsagreedwithWarringahCouncilandMWFA,wewereabletocontribute$100,000towards theupgradeofMelwood.Thiswasmadeintwoinstalments.

SomeothermajorexpenditurethisseasonwasRSALicencesforseveralcommitteemembers,twodefibrillators,fieldhireandplayerdevelopmentcosts.Severalcutbacksweredecided uponsuchasBrazilianSchoolandnewballsforU6playersanddinnerdance.

Revenuetotheclubwasincreasedimmenselyoncethenewfieldswereofficiallyopened andwearelookingforwardtothiscontinuingnextseason.

AswearecommencingwiththeSummerFootballCompetition,stockremainshighinboth barandcanteen.WewillbeopeningthebaronFridaynightsfortheSummerCricket. WewillalsobelookingatopeningtheClub’sfacilitiesforothereventsheldattheoval,which willbeagoodopportunitytoearnextrarevenue.

Withourhomegroundunavailableandachallengingseasonaheadweanticipatedthatplayerregistrationsmaybedowninnumbersthisyear.Itseemsthatweunderestimatedthevision ofourmemberswhowerenotintheleastphasedbythetemporaryinconveniencebutwere focusedontheexcitingfutureoftheclub.

Ourplayerregistrationscontinuedtogrowin2015andwefinishedtheseasonwith1132playersacross72teams.Over300playerswerebrandnewtotheclubthisseason.Morethanhalfofthemwereundertheageof10,84wereadultsandtheremainderwereagedbetween10and 17yearsold.

ThisyearwewereoncemoreencouragedbyFNSWtostrivefor100percentofplayerstouseself-registrationviatheMyFootballClubwebsite.Asproposedlastyear,wedidnotholdthe traditionalRegistrationDaybutinsteadwepilotedanInformationDaywherewehadno registrationfacilitiesandwereonlytheretoanswerquestions.Thedaywentsmoothlyand avoidedtheusualproblemofanoverloadedregistrationsystem.Forthefirsttimeever,100 percentofplayersself-registeredthisyear–averyexcitingmilestone.

Agrandtotalof1370registrationswereprocessedthisseason,including166teamvolunteers(coachesandmanagers),30teamreferees(mens)andanumberofplayerswhowereunable tofinishtheseason.

IwouldliketoespeciallythankMareeVaseywhoprovidedagreatdealofadditionalsupporttomeinthebusypre-seasonperiodbeforeshetookontheroleofCompetitionSecretary. Thanksalsototheagecoordinatorswhohelpedmetofinaliseregistrationswhereneeded.

WiththesyntheticfieldsatMelwoodcompleted,theintroductionoftheinauguralForestSummerFootballcompetitionmeantthattheregistrar’sjobdidnotfinishinJulythisyear.Justafew weekslaterwenowhave520registeredplayersacross72teamsenjoyingsmallsidedgames onaMondaynighttoo.EveryoneseemstobeenjoyingthenewsurfaceandmanynewplayerstotheclubareanticipatedforthenextwinterseasonatMelwood.

Ourunder6,7and8’shadafantasticyearandwereverywellsupportedbyahostofvolunteercoachesandmanagersbotholdandnew.Itwasgreattoseesomanynewboysandgirlscometotheclubintheunder6’sandit’salwaysfuntowatchthemrunaroundthepitchlikeaswarm ofbeeschasingtheball.Wehopetheyarewithusformanyyearstocome!

Theunder7’swereamixtureofplayersintheirsecondseasonandagoodnumberofnew playersrecentlymovedtothearea.Itwasfantastictoseetheirskillsimprovingthroughthe yearastheystarttogetanunderstandingofthegame.

Ourunder8’senjoyedtheirfirstyearwithagoalkeeperandlearningthenewstrategiesofplayrequired.Weenteredourtwostrongestunder8sidesintheMongoCupmidwaythroughtheseasonandwhilsttheycameawaywithmixedsuccessthekidsreallyenjoyedthedayand hadalotoffun.

Oursincerethankstoallofthevolunteercoachesandmanagersthatgiveupsomuchoftheirtimeeachweek.Wecouldn’tdoitwithoutyoubutthesmilesonthekidsfaceseachweek makeitallworthwhile.

2015hasbeenagoodyearfortheU9–11agegroups.

FKFChad66playersacrosssixU9teams,49playersacrossfourU10teamsand38 playersacrossthreeU11teams.Someoftheteamswerealittlelarge,withnumbersof registeredplayersnotquitebeingenoughtocreateanotherteamperagegroup–andafew lateregistrationscominginaftergradingandteamformationaddingtonumberslateon. Feedbackwasthatcoacheswouldpreferlesssubs,andhopefullywegetthenumbersin 2016toaccommodatethis.Thegreatestchallengethisyearwastheamountofwetweather.Thenumberofgames missedinthefirsthalfoftheseasondelayedtherebalancingofdivisions,andasmallnumber ofteamsacrosstheagegroupsfoundthemselvesinchallengingdivisionsforlongerthan expected.Thesecondhalfoftheseasonwasmuchbetterfortheseteams,andtheplayers enjoyedtheirfootball.

ThisyearindividualplayergradingwasintroducedtoU9level,withexpressionsofinterest takenforplayerswishingtobeconsideredfor1st&2ndteams,andtheremainingteams offeringplayersanopportunitytocontinueplayingsociallywiththeirfriends.Thiswasabig success,withagoodlevelofinterestfortheindividualgradingandsupportingbothcompetitiveandsocialplayers.Onelearningtotakefromthisistohaveanincreasedfocusongrading socialteamsthathavehadsomeoftheirplayersmovetoahigherdivision.

Teamsworkedwelltogethertomanagetrainingschedulesandsharelimitedspaceon KillarneyOval,withMelwoodclosedfordevelopmentformostoftheseason.Thishadthe benefitofencouragingcooperationandinteractionbetweenteams,andinparticularU10 andU11agegroupsteamswouldcometogetherfortraininggames.

AnU9,U10andanU11teamtookpartingaladayshostedbyMongoovertheEasterbreak. Thestandardofplaywaschallenging,andtheplayersenjoyedtheexperience,raisingtheirgame.Thecoachesalsoappreciatedtheopportunityofplayingmultiplegamesback-to-back andbeingabletoworkwiththeplayersinbetween,givingimmediatefeedbackandputting itstraightintopractice.Inaddition,itwasagreatbondingexperiencefortheplayersearlyin theseason.

FKFCalsohadanU10andU11team(alongwithU8andU12)participateintheSydney InternationalCupovertheOctoberlongweekend.Again,thestandardofplaywashigh,and ourteamsperformedwellandenjoyedtheexperience.ItwasgreattoseeourFKFCplayers fromdifferentteamscombiningwell,supportingourotheragegroupteams,andaboveall seeinghowmuchtheyhavedevelopedoverthecourseofthisseason.

Aswelookforwardtothe2016ourCoachingManager,WarwickAndrews,hasorganized summerskillssessionstokeeptheplayerssharpandreadyforthenextseason.Welook forwardtoseealltheplayersbackforanothergreatseasonnextyear!

Asusualalltheteamshadafunandcompetitiveseasonindivisionsappropriatetotheirlevel ofplay.WhilewehadnoMajorPremiersthisyearwehadasuccessfulseasonresults-wisewith5ofthe7teamsfinishinginthetop4andparticipatingintheirrespectivesemi-finals(namely the35/4,35/7B,35/8A,35/8BandO45teams).Twoofthose(35/4and35/8A)madeittotheirgrandfinalandalthoughbothlostclosefoughtgamestheyenjoyedbeingpartofthecarnivalatmosphereatCromerPark.
