What does better ball striking has to be with having a

good stand? Please bear with me and I will explain

why a good stand and GolfXion app will help you to

be a better ball striker. As you probably know by know

Why do I need a stand for my iPadand iPad mini?

When you practicing your ball striking skills both of

your hands are holding the golf club. So there is no

way you can be holding on to your iPad and at same

time as you are making a golf swing. The primary aim

of GolfXion is to provide instant feedback on head

movement during a golf swing and you don’t want to

false feedback due to the position or location of the

iPad shifting. In addition, you want to make sure that

your iPad is securely attached and there is no risk of

damaging your iPad while you are practicing to be a

better ball striker. Last but not least is that GolfXion

require a constant frame of reference in order to

detect the “head still” condition and “head

movement” condition.

The stand for my iPad and iPad mini

For peace of mind, it is recommended that you get a

stand which is capable of holding your iPad and iPad

mini securely. Essentially, it is a tripod and a iPad/iPad

mini case that allows it to be securely mounted on the

tripod. But you don’t want your tripod to take up too

much space. So the ones I choose is more like a light

stand that you find in photographer’s studio. It must

be stable and sufficiently stiff. Please evaluate your

stand for stability.

Where Can I get my stand?

The iPad mini stand the author used when developing

the GolfXion app is from Grifiti Nootle iPad mini tripod

stand which was bought through Amazon. Here is the

Just completeness, although I have another post on

stand for iPhone 5/S, you will need 2 items, the tripod

How does my iPad and iPad miniattach to the stand?

We will go through a step-by-step process of how we

attach the iPad or iPad mini to the case and then

mount it on the stand. This setup can be used for

improving the photos that you take on your iPad and

iPhone, but let not forget that we are adapting an

easily available tool so as to help you to be a better

ball striker. We all love golf and we want to have a

better scores which means that we need to improve

the consistency of the contact with the golf ball.

Step 1, Attaching the iPad or iPad mini

The iPad and iPad mini case is just like any case for

your favorite iPad and iPad mini, except for a back

contains a mechanism for you to mount the case onto

the tripod. So step one is just to insert the iPad and

iPad mini into the front of the case. Please make sure

that it fits snugly and securely. You must make sure

that it is securely attached at all times so that it would

not drop out.

The back of the iPad and iPad mini case is different.

The unique feature is thick material with a mounting

hole for attaching to the stand. So next we will explore

how we attach the iPad/iPad mini case to the stand.

Step 2, Attaching iPad Case to the Stand

Attach the mounting hole to the mounting screw at the

top of the stand. Please make sure that your iPad and

iPad mini case is fitted securely on the stand. You

must not see any screw threads between the case

and the stand. If you iPad and iPad mini case is not

securely fitted then you will risk breaking your favorite

iPad and iPad mini.

So you are almost done. I cannot emphasize enough

how important it is to double check if your iPad and

iPad mini is securely attached to the stand to prevent

it from dropping.

Step 3, Spreading the Tripod Legs

The last step is really simple. First find a safe location

to position to the stand that is now holding your

precious iPad and iPad mini. Next, spread the tripod

legs on the stand to make sure that they are fully

extended as we require maximum stability to prevent

your iPad and iPad mini from crashing into the

ground.

Last Step, Adjust the iPad

After checking that your location is safe and the iPad

and iPad mini is securely mounted, the last step is to

adjust the iPad and iPad mini so that it becomes

visible. Now you are ready to start using GolfXion to

provide you with instant feedback on head

movements during a golf swing. You can use

configure different head movement profiles to fit

different clubs. Most important club that have zero

tolerance for movement is the putter or what most call

the “flat stick”. Most important of all, the stand

provides a constant reference frame so that when

GolfXion sounds an alert, it is a movement of your

head and not that of your iPad and iPad mini.

Safety is Very IMPORTANT

Please make sure that there is sufficient space

between you and the stand that is holding your iPad

or iPad mini. The required space must be sufficient for

your to make a complete golf swing with your longest

golf club which usually is your driver. You do not want

to risk crashing your golf club into the your stand and

damaging your golf club and your iPad/iPad mini.

Remember not to rush your pace as scrap and hitting

is not a good habit to practice during the driving range

session.

Handsfree Operation with GolfXion

GolfXion detects that you are about to start your golf

swing when your head remains sufficiently still, which

automatically starts the head movement detection

mode. After this GolfXion will play an audio alert when

your head moves. GolfXion will make a video

recording of the entire session between the auto-start

and the head movement, and this video will be

automatically played.

Continuous Looping

GolfXion will then automatically go back to detecting

the start of your golf swing. GolfXion will continue to

repeat this entire cycle until you exit the detection

mode. GolfXion operates totally handsfree once you

start it in the detection mode. GolfXion gives you

instant feedback on head movement in order to

improve the effectiveness of your ball striking. This is

how GolfXion claims that you can practice with instant

feedback and this can help you to be a better ball

striker.
