THINKING ABOUT BECOMING

CATHOLIC? St. Cecilia offers a year round process for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (commonly known as RCIA). This process is designed for those who have never been baptized, for those baptized in another Christian faith, or for those Catholics who were baptized but never had any formal teaching or training in their Catholic Faith. If you or someone you know has been look-ing for an opportunity to find out more about the Catholic Faith, please consider joining us at St. Cecilia. For more information, please call 847-437-6208 and leave a message for our coordi-nator, Mary Alfus.

HAND-CARVED OLIVE WOOD GIFTS FROM THE HOLY LAND Proceeds benefit Catholic schools in the Holy Land. There are more than 600 Christian families liv-ing in Bethlehem and are completely dependent on carving olive wood figurines for their liveli-hood. The recent clashes in the Middle East have stopped the tourism industry in Bethle-hem, causing most of those families serious harm in earning their living and forcing many of them to leave their homeland. Emptying the land of Christ from Christians can have tragic consequences on the Holy sites. Issam from “Star of Bethlehem Group” came to the United States with a mission to help those families by selling their beautiful religious hand crafts. The cost of goods goes to benefit the Christian carv-ers to keep them working in the spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, the profit from sales goes directly to the needy Catholic schools and clinics in the Holy Land. Star of Bethle-hem has been approved by Archdiocese of Chi-cago, many Bishops, and from Diocese of Jeru-salem. Please take a look at these beautiful articles on November 29th & 30th .

Dear Lord, Please bring them

all home safely. Let us remember and pray for those who are always in our hearts. If you have loved ones who are currently serving in the Armed Forces, please call the rectory at 847-437-6208 and we will add their names to our bulletin list. When your loved one has returned home, please let us know so we can remove their name from the list. Thank you.

As we begin Advent we are called to “Be watchful! Be alert” as we stand in joyful anticipation for the grace of Christmas to once again bless our lives. Your gift to St. Vincent de Paul will help the poor to celebrate the grace of God’s love this Christmas. St Vincent de Paul is an emergency source for food and short-term financial help for parishioners and those living within the parish boundaries. Please call 847-437-6208. Re quests will be handled with care and confidentiality.

HUMAN CONCERNS COMMISSION

MY BROTHER’S KEEPER MINISTRY Seniors do you need a ride to the doctor or grocery store? Please, give us at least 3 days notice. This is a free service to all our senior parish-ioners. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO DRIVE FOR SURGERY OR IF ANESTHISIA IS INVOLVED CALL LINDA AT 847-439-5372 NEW DRIVERS—ALWAYS WELCOME If you are able to drive once a month, we can use you. You let us know the time and day of week you are available and that will be the only time you will be called. Because of illness, va-cations and just plain life, we have had a shortage of drivers. Your help is really appreciated.

If you are making progress in your grief and you are beginning to have some good days, don’t be upset because the holidays set you back a little. That’s normal. If you are in the early weeks and months of grief, believe that every future holiday season won’t necessarily be as bad as this year. Go through the holidays in ways that help you best to get through them. Don’t listen to the non-bereaved and all their “expert” advice. They’re advising you to behave in ways that makes them comfortable. Ignore them. Do what works for you and your family. Remember: Cry when you need to and laugh when you can. Ministry of Bereavement
