This book is a gradual development of our lecture notes on wireless communication used for last sixplus years. This book has been strictly written as per the syllabus of MTU and GBTU, Lucknow. We have divided the syllabus into five chapters according to the syllabus prescribed. The topics inthe chapters have been arranged in a proper sequence and the length of each topic is according torequirement in the bachelor of engineering courses. Our teaching experience tells us that a text book, which is meant for learning a student, who istrying to understand the subject for the first time, must clarify all the basic features of the subject ina most lucid and systematic manner. This book is written with the same central idea, so that studentscan be benefitted from this book with a greater sense of ease. This book starts from the evolution of wireless communication and then explain the basicfundamentals like models of propagation, effects of fading and multipath, spread spectrum techniques, need of equalisation and diversity, types of speech coding, multiple access techniques, basic cellularconcepts, different standards like GSM and CDMA, IMT-2000 and mobile data networks. Thisbook also deals with the advanced topics like adhoc-networks, 4G and NGN.Illustrative examples along with the previous year university questions are interspersedthroughout the book at their natural locations. Solved numericals and important points in the end ofeach unit, to understand more about the topics. For the basics, some appendices are given at the endof book, which help for mathematical expressions and derivations. All comments and criticism regarding this book would be acknowledged by the authors [email protected] SharmaShilpa Sharma
