Lesson aims.
1. What is a natural hazard and how are they defined.
2. What examples of natural hazards are there.
3. To start looking at an example- Plate Tectonics.

Starter.
• Together we are going to watch a clip about the worlds natural hazards.
• In your books I would like you to note down all the hazards you recognise.

What is a natural hazard.
• 2 minutes- write down a sentence in your books that defines a natural hazard.
• We will then compare this to a text book definition to see how close you were.
A natural hazard is a natural event which is perceived by people as a threat to life and property. It may be generated from within the earth, upon the surface or happen within the atmosphere.
