Thank You From MOPS

As you know, each All Saints family (in grades kindergarten-8) is responsible to volunteer at least 10 hours each school year. We rely on active parent partnership to provide a learning environment in which all students are able to maximize their academic and spiritual potential. To date, we have over 2,500 hours of volunteer service logged by parents. Thank you for making such a difference!

We will be sending invoices for unmet service hours next week. We are asking all parents to submit their final service hours no later than Friday, June 13, 2017.

Logging service hours can be completed at www.allsaintscs.com/service or use the Quick Links drop-down on our website.

Thank you so much for supporting our school.

The All Saints Golf Classic will tee off on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at the Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth. Our early bird discount expires on June 15, 2017, and we are already half-way sold out!

We are busy finalizing the entire day of activities and are excited to announce we will be playing the Mark and Luke courses, instead of the Luke and Matthew courses as we have the last two years. We hope you’ll bring your family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors to this year’s outing. Don’t delay, take advantage of this early discount before June 15, 2017! Sign-up online (www.allsaintscs.com/golf) or by printing off the form available on our website.

Thank You... Platinum SponsorA very special thank you to our Platinum Sponsor for this year’s All Saints Golf Classic - LaJoy Group. Thank you for your continued support!

The All Saints’ MOPS group would like to thank all of the student volunteers who came to help in the childcare rooms during our meetings. They could not have the had meetings without them and the kids have LOVED having them around to play with. They have been such an essential part of making the MOPS meetings run smooth and giving the moms a chance to enjoy the company of other moms.

Last Monday, our All Saints 5th graders enjoyed their annual retreat to the Solanus Casey Center in Detroit. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students and staff to explore the life of Fr. Solanus Casey, especially since he was recently elevated from the “venerable” to “blessed” title by Pope Francis this month. Students enjoyed the highlights of the trip, which included Mass, a tour based on the extraordinary life of Fr. Solanus, and a scavenger hunt around the center.

Variety Show Is A Smashing SuccessThis year’s world famous Variety Show featured 13 acts and two performances - Thursday evening and Friday morning!! Our very talented and gifted (and brave) students sang, played, and danced their hearts out!

At Friday morning’s show, students were treated to a surprise dance group performance. To a screaming ovation from students, the team of Mrs. Alban, Mrs. Lenconi, Mrs. Skowronek, Mrs. Kaschyk, Ms. Wheeler, Ms. Brow, Mrs. Zahari, and Ms. Elemont - surprised the students with a dance routine!

Yard Signs Return For SummerWe are excited to announce We Are All Saints yard signs can now be reserved by competing the online form at www.allsaintscs.com/yard.

In our continuing efforts to get the All Saints Catholic School name out in our community, we are looking for families interested in posting a sign in their yard over the summer.

Our goal is to have signs available for pick-up before school gets out. Please reserve your sign today!

Thank You!!!A special thank you to the 4th and 5th grade families who hosted the final staff appreciation luncheon of the school year! Everything was delicious!

Garden PlotSign Up...All Saints Catholic School is once again excited to be a proud sponsor of this year’s Canton Farmers Market. This year, we have established a small plot in a community garden near Canton Preservation Park. We will be growing cucumbers and tomatoes that will be donated to the All Saints Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen in Detroit later this summer.

In addition to reinforcing our school commitment to helping others, the garden will be a great opportunity for families to become personally involved. We encourage any family interested in helping out to sign-up at www.allsaintscs.com/garden.

BabysittingIf you are in need of babysitting help, please contact the main office for a list of available babysitters in our community.

Recess Help Needed! For the rest of the school year, we are looking for additional recess help. If you are interested in helping during any or all of the recess periods, email Mrs. Pisarski at [email protected].

Thank you in advance for your help.

6th Graders and Ellis IslandOur sixth grade students participated in an interactive virtual tour of Ellis Island last week in social studies. Students learned about the history of the island by reading, looking at photographs, watching video, and listening to audio from immigrants who traveled to the island.

Chemist Visits With 5th GradeLast Thursday, Mr. Laroo came in to enhance the fifth grade science curriculum by speaking about his job as a chemist with the Environmental Protection Agency.

The information he shared really “bonded” well with the studies of the atom that the fifth grade chemists have been working on.

The students also learned about how important it is to make good choices to lessen humans’ impact upon the environment.

Thank you Mr. Laroo for your time and for all that you taught us!

Hayride, Bonfire Chair Needed

Scouts Walk In Memorial Day Parade

We are looking to fill the chair and/or co-chair role for next school year’s Family Hayride and Bonfire, held at Three Cedars Farm in Northville. The chair of this event is responsible for contacting Three Cedars to schedule the date, advertising the event in the school newsletter, and coordinating volunteers. The evening of the Hayride, the co-chairs are responsible for distributing wristbands to attendees, handing out cider and donuts, and working with the Three Cedars Staff to monitor the bonfire throughout the evening. If a chair or co-chairs is not secured by the June 13th, this event will be cancelled. If you are interested in more information or wish to volunteer at this time, please our co-chairs of the Parent Activity Committee, Michelle Zyskowski ([email protected]) or Michele Santillan ([email protected]) today.

We had 16 ASCS students march in the Plymouth Memorial Day Parade this year between our Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts.

Last Friday, our 1st grade students and many of the parents braved the rain and ventured out for a field trip to the Detroit Zoo.

1st Graders Take Field Trip To Detroit Zoo

Ahoy mateys! Our fourth graders have been reading Treasure Island and to get into the spirit of the book, the students completed pirate-themed activities last week. First, students used an activity page to develop their own pirate name. Second, they created a parrot using an empty toilet tissue roll. The last activity was making a pirate hat. The children enjoyed wearing their pirate hats and reading Treasure Island.
