First Fruits – July
The British are Coming! The British are Coming! Have you ever wondered what it must
have been like on that night when Paul Revere tried to warn the colonists that the enemy
was quickly approaching?
Well, here we are already in July 2013. Wow, the time has passed so quickly. Of course
July is best known for the July 4th
holiday – a day (or weekend) of family, food, fun and
fireworks – but other than it being a much needed holiday in the middle of the summer
heat, it’s a time when we as a country remember where our roots were formed and we de-
clared FREEDOM from the enemy – Great Britain.
To echo Paul Revere, as Texans this time of year we could be screaming “The 100 degree
days are coming! The 100 degree days are coming!” But as Christians we could easily
call out - “The enemy IS here! The enemy IS here!”
We have been studying in Luke about our greatest enemy (the devil) and his demons and
their desire to take everything away from us – especially our relationship with Jesus Christ.
In Galatians 5:13 Paul tells us, “For you Brethren were called to Freedom, only do not let
your freedom be an incentive to your flesh and an opportunity or excuse for selfishness but
through love you should serve one another.” (Amp vers.) But to receive this freedom we
must each choose Christ as our Lord and Savior. “In this freedom Christ has made us free,
stand fast then and do not be hampered and held ensnared and submit again to a yoke of
slavery.” (Gal. 5:1)
Unlike the war we had to fight to win freedom from the British, Christ has already won the
war against the devil and the victory is ours… but only through the redemption and resur-
rection of Jesus. We have freedom but only when we walk in a Christ-like life not allowing
the enemy to tempt and distract us with the desires of the world and the flesh. Easier said
than done I know, but we have the love of the Father, the sacrifice of the Son and the Pow-
er of the Holy Spirit to rely on. Through the blood of Jesus – We are Free!!! You are
Free!!! Glory to God, Hallelujah!!!
Pursuing His Presence,
Pastor Rusty

First School has started summer “fun” in
full swing -- from library time and movies
to swimming and field trips! Everyone’s fa-
vorite activity seems to be swimming. It’s
a great way to cool off.
“Thank you” to everyone who brought
paper rolls. We have received plenty and
will be doing crafts with them.
We take children from six weeks to 12
years old. Openings are available for all
ages except the nursery. There we have a
waiting list.
Peace be with you,
Diane
