In this edition, we wanted to focus on our annual fundraiser for the “Fight Against Cancer”. In addi-

tion, we are pleased to announce that we have launched a First Care applet in Apple’s App store and in Google play. The applet is a great way to get a hold of the office and for the office to send notification of up and coming events, payroll updates, case availability, opportunity to win prizes, recruitment initia-tives and if you have a friend or family member who needs home care. To add the applet to your smart phone, type the following keywords in your search line, “New York Home Care”. The First Care applet will appear and now it can be installed.

Caretaker’s Corner: Remember summer is fast approaching! If you are planning a vacation with your family, you must send your request 4 weeks in advance of your planned departure date. You can send your notice via our new applet, via email or a letter. All requests must be confirmed by your supervisor.

Recruitment Corner: Free training for English speaking PCA/HHA is available in the Bronx and Brooklyn offices and PCA only training is available in Queens. In addition, if you have a friend or family member that is a certified HHA or PCA and needs more hours, we have hours for them. Client Corner:**** NEW **** Each quarter we would like to spotlight a patient who puts a smile on our face. Patients will be nominated by the Coordination or Nursing department. This quarter’s patient spotlight is “Lawrence Scott”. It is always a pleasure to service you and we will be sending you a basket as a token of appreciation.

Benefits Corner: Reminder, effective January 1st, 2012 all employees must either enroll in Direct deposit or come to a First Care office to retrieve your payroll check. For Live In Cases: Aides are supposed to call in on the day that they start the case and every subsequent morning that they work. On the day that they leave the case, they DO NOT call out. All payroll inquiries, call (718) 450-8599 and a payroll special-ist will call you back within 24 hours.

Esquina de Beneficios: Recordatorio, efectivo 01 de enero 2012 todos los empleados deben inscribirse en programa de depósito directo o venir a una oficina de First Care para recoger su cheque de nómina. Para los casos con dormida (Live in): Se supone que los ayudantes deben de llamar el día en que se inicie el caso y todas las mañanas siguientes. El día que deje el caso, no se debe de llamar. Para hacerle preguntas al departamento de nómina, llame al (718) 450-8599 y un especialista de ese departamento le devolverá la llamada dentro de24 horas.
