Dear Church Family . . .
In my quiet time this morning I read Psalm 27:1 which says “The Lord is my light and my sal-
vation; Whom shall I fear? Of whom shall I be afraid?” It was a reminder to me that although our
world is currently facing a certain level of crisis, God has still solved a much bigger crisis in our lives.
He has provided salvation for all who will place their faith and trust in Him. Our biggest problem was
big indeed! Only God was big enough to solve that problem and He already has!
There are many things human beings face that zap away strength. In this current crisis it may
be fears of contracting the corona virus, seeing loved ones contract it, having enough food or supplies,
uncertainties related to one’s job, or any number of other things. Those things are only temporal at
best anyway. One good thing about all of this is that believers have the opportunity to model for the
world the hope that goes beyond this life. James reminds us about the uncertainties of life, even
when they appear certain as he says “Come now you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to such
and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit,’ whereas you do not know what
will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then
vanishes away.” Our lives on this earth are very short. They are too short to get caught up in the day
to day worries and concerns even when they are of a more serious nature.
Christians have a hope that the world does not have. That hope does not stem from what we
see, but from what is not seen. Romans 5:5 says “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of
God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Paul wrote to the Co-
lossians in 3:1-3 “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above where Christ
is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you
died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”
This month we celebrate Easter. It is uncertain, at this point, whether we will be allowed to
gather for worship on April 12th. Even if not, it changes nothing concerning the historical reality that
Christ rose from the dead, and the hope we have in Him. Perhaps this year, more than any other, we
can see God’s glory in providing salvation through His shed blood. While the world is anxious with
fear and uncertainty we look forward to, what the writer of Hebrews in 6:19 calls “A hope we have as
an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil.”
Be in prayer, in these days that you will be a good witness to your neighbors and family mem-
bers. Show them the Christ of the New Testament by your Christian walk. Pray for God to open doors
for you to share your faith with others to whom you may not otherwise have been able to share. Pray
that God would help you remain calm knowing that your hope is in Him and not in the things of this
life. Show the world how we are different.
I look forward to the day we can meet again for worship, as the body of Christ. I do not know
if that will be very soon, or somewhere down the road, but I do know the church is not the building,
but the people. We are a family and we love one another and we are bound together by our love for
Christ. Our Lord will prevail, because He has already prevailed!
In Christ Our Lord,
Bro. Allen

Right Now Media Recommendation of the Month
These days are a perfect time for you to check out and watch some of the great mate-
rial available to you on Rightnow Media. This month I want to recommend a series by Er-
win Lutzer called The King is Coming: Ten Events that will Change Our Future Forever. The
description copied from the website says “The end is near." While these often seem to be
the words of insane rambling, they can also be a sensible presentation of truth. Acknowl-
edging that what is yet to come is beyond the scope of our wildest projections, pastor and
scholar Erwin Lutzer reminds us in The King is Coming that we have not been left completely
in the dark. Now, small groups can grapple with the content of The King is Coming together
through a new study guide experience. This group study will provide answers for those
questioning what comes next, and em-
power and instruct participants to live ac-
cordingly in the here and now.”
It is an exciting time to study the end
times! This series will give you some great
insight about things to come!
Bro. Allen’s QuotABle Quotes
Subject: Resurrection
“Outside of the cross of Jesus Christ, there is no hope in this world. That cross and resurrection at the core of the Gospel is the
only hope for humanity. Wherever you go, ask God for wisdom on how to get that Gospel in, even in the toughest situations of
life.” (Ravi Zacharias)
“The best news of the Christian gospel is that the supremely glorious Creator of the universe has acted in Jesus Christ’s death and
resurrection to remove every obstacle between us and himself so that we may find everlasting joy in seeing and savoring His infi-
nite beauty.” (John Piper)
“Here’s the simplest answer: within weeks, the disciples proclaimed the resurrection of Jesus Christ, that He had been bodily
raised from the dead and appeared to them.” (Josh McDowell)
“While the resurrection promises us a new and perfect life in the future, God loves us too much to leave us alone to contend with
the pain, guilt and loneliness of our present life.” (Josh McDowell)
“Few people seem to realize that the resurrection of Jesus is the cornerstone to a worldview that provides the perspective to all
of life.” (Josh McDowell)
