FIRE Projects – Technology/Working Areas
4* Coordination & Support Action projects typically support all FIRE projects
** SmartSantander project finished – Test facility continues
*** BonFIRE and OFELIA project finished - Open Access continues
• 7 FIRE projects have a ready large scale facility infrastructure that can be used:– CONFINE - exploration and advancement of the community networks– CREW - radio spectrum and
measurements of wireless– EXPERIMEDIA - research in Future Media Internet – Fed4FIRE - a real federation of
experimentation facilities– FLEX - Long Term Evolution (LTE)– OPENLAB - advancing capabilities of early FIRE facilities– SUNRISE - underwater sensors – IoT

ceFIMS-CONNECTObjective ICT-2013.1.7 Coordination Action
» addresses fragmentation of ICT research between Member States supporting the Future Internet Forum in creating synergy between European and Member States Future Internet initiatives
13
• Support Member States by promoting their Future Internet activities, facilitating information sharing and providing support for National FI Chapters
• Support the European FIF by providing a Secretariat and support to the activities of the FIF
• Undertake targeted dissemination activities to publicise the achievements of inter-Member State cooperation in Future Internet research & innovation

Open Harmonized CitySDK
APIs boosting Smart City
service development
16
CitySDK APIs• For cities interested in boosting
digital service development with
uniform APIs and European wide
developer community
• For developers looking to develop
apps that work in various European
cities
CitySDK creates open and uniform APIs
across cities
17
CitySDK APIs
The CitySDK project focuses on three domains:
• Smart Participation
• Smart Mobility
• Smart Tourism
Solutions of these domains are tested in Helsinki,
Amsterdam and Lisbon and replicated in other
European cities such as Barcelona, Istanbul, Lamia,
Manchester and Rome.

18
Problem: lack of interoperability
19
Formats and APIs vary between cities• ‘Open’ interfaces to existing systems are not uniform
even within cities
• Documentation is lacking as well
Scaling an app from one
city to another=
Solution: CityAPIs
20
CityAPIsOpen uniform interfaces
Scaling an app from onecity to another =
