Reasons of Major Losses

• Lower quality of Fire Detection System• Communication gap among the buildings and Nearest Fire

Service Stations• Lack of Fire Extinguishers• Absence of Emergency Systems

Page 5: Fire protection system

Project Overview:

• A remote SMS system to communicate immediately with nearest fire stations, local PS, local hospitals and other necessary places

• A emergency light system in case of power failure

Page 6: Fire protection system

Required chips

• ATMEGA32A• LM35 (Heat Sensor)• LM324 (Op-Amp)• 7404 (Not Gate)• SIM900 (GSM Module)

Remote SMS System

• The GSM module (SIM 900) is interfaced with ATMEGA32A in the total system

Page 11: Fire protection system

Sensing The Fire

• A heat sensor (LM35) is used to detect room temperature• A comparator circuit is used to compare the output voltage of

LM35 with a given reference voltage• If the output is above certain level, it takes the decision that a fire

incident has occurred

SOS

As the fire has been detected, the module will automatically send SMS to necessary persons and places

Emergency Light System

• Powered by a rechargeable DC battery• If the main power goes off, the emergency lights

automatically turn on• Other times, the battery is being charged and kept nearly

100% charged

Page 15: Fire protection system

Cost Estimation

• GSM Module- Tk. 2300• Transformer (220-6V)- Tk. 65• Microchip (ATMEGA32A)- Tk. 200• Heat Sensor (LM35)- Tk. 45• DC Battery (2 pcs)- Tk.50• Miscellaneous- Tk. 130

• Total Cost- Tk. 2790

In case of MASS PRODUCTION, total cost can be decreased to Tk. 2000 (estimated)

Page 16: Fire protection system

Limitations

• LM35 is very sensitive, so in case of other temperature arising incidents, the system can turn on.

• The output of LM35 is in mV range (10 mV/◦C), so minor noise can activate the system

Page 17: Fire protection system

Future Development

• Inclusion of fire alarm• Automated Fire Extinguishers in sensitive places

Page 18: Fire protection system

Cautions

• Both GSM Module and Microchips are voltage sensitive, minimum increase can harm these devices

• GSM module is temperature sensitive• Total system (except the LM35) should be installed in a

neutral place
