AAbboouutt CCBBSS Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies was set up by Delhi

Administration in 1987 to impart business and management education at

the undergraduate level, in response to the perceived demand for quality

business education at this level.

Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies (CBS) is the premier and

only specialized institution of the University of Delhi imparting

education in this field. The college offers four courses out of which three

are three-year full-time degree courses leading to the award of ‘Bachelor of

Business Studies,’ ‘Bachelor of Financial and Investment Analysis,’

and ‘Bachelor of Science (H) Computer Science’ degrees respectively.

The fourth one is a one-and-a-half year full-time ‘Postgraduate Diploma

in Computer Applications.’

Today, it is the most sought after institution for learning and carries

scholastic reputation of its own right. CBS committed itself to excellence in

professional education and, ever since, has religiously lived up to the

reincarnation of Bull and Bears School of Capital Markets. Their promoters

have a long and proud history of educating India’s leading brokerage houses

in NCDEX training modules. They have the unique distinction of being

awarded the first official training partner status from NCDEX for

conducting training for member brokerage houses, spread across the length

& the breadth of the country. Share Gurukul believes in de-mystifying the

CRESCENDO – THE COLLEGE FESTIVAL

The college pays adequate attention to the all round development of the

students through Crescendo, our annual business and cultural festival. It

gives ample opportunity to our students to organize events and interact with

students of other professional institutes.

Panchangni, the Choreography competition, Rang Manch the Dramatics

competition, Mridang, the Music Competition, Chakravyuh, the Treasure

Hunt are annual features.

FINANCIAL WIZARDS – THE STOCK EXCHANGE

SIMULATION

The college organizes Financial Wizards, a stock exchange simulation.

Becoming a rage in the corporate circles, the game involves the use of

computer networks to simulate a realistic stock exchange replete with

speculative as well as news based transactions.

REMINISCENCE – THE ALUMNI MEET & DINNER

The college has assumed the responsibility of alumni interaction by

organizing the alumni meet and dinner annually inviting all the alumni, most

of whom are very well placed in their respective careers, to again enliven

the spirit of a CBSite and spread it… Such get-togethers provide an

excellent opportunity for the college to update and apprise itself of the

career advancement of its alumni. The alumni in turn have contributed

constructively by making relevant suggestions for the development of our

students in their respective organizations and institutions. Further, they have

also been participating in creating opportunities in their respective

organizations.

CONVERGENCE – A CONFLUENCE OF IDEAS

The annual corporate seminar of CBS is an endeavor to keep our students in

sync with the latest trends in the corporate world. Experts from various

industries are invited to fortify the students’ knowledge and to provide an

insight into the matters that will shape the future of corporate India. The

Seminar, a yearly event, raises the bar each year in terms of the speakers and

student participation. It is much looked forward to by our students as it

gives them a platform to interact directly with the corporate. The seminar is

a stage for debates and presentations given by the top notch corporate.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

The college has an active Placement Cell called the Career Development

Center formed with the help of a Placement Officer and student members

to help fulfill the students’ aspirations. Our placement records are the best

in the industry and even in periods of economic slump, we have had

excellent placement records.

The college just concluded Season – I of its placement exercise for year

2006-07. 19 companies have reruited from CBS so far of which seven visited

campus for the first time.

139 final offers have been made while more than 10 companies are in line to

recruit in Season – II as well. The highest compensation offered is Rs. 7.08

lacs per annum CTC. The average compensation is Rs. 4.07 lacs per annum.

The total CDC turnover as on 14th January 2007 amounts to Rs. 6.03 crores.

Ultimately, the true strength of CBS lies in the richness of the college’s

AAbboouutt FFiinnWWiizz The Indian capital markets are on a steady rise to international standards

with the arrival of screen based trading and introduction of derivatives.

Financial Wizards, the stock exchange simulation game aims to provide a

perfect blend of the traditional system of trading and the latest trading

instruments like futures and options. The motto is to provide real time stock

market experience to students, so as to educate them about Indian capital

markets.

Financial Wizards is a unique event organized by Shaheed Sukhdev College

of Business Studies to foster industry interaction, to develop event

management and organizing skills among students and to help them

understand the broad activities of the secondary securities market.

Enthusiasm, energy and skill on one hand and caution on the other, mark

each trading session. With rapidly changing prices of shares, the teams need

to devise and implement their strategies amidst an environment of utter

commotion reminiscent of actual trading at the National Stock Exchange.

Hasty dealings, exasperation and jubilation, all provide a dramatic picture

and an aura of the actual stock exchange.

OVERVIEW OF THE GAME

� The event will include around 100 teams of 2 members each.

� The teams will be given an imaginary portfolio and a certain

amount of cash at the beginning of the game.

� The game will give an experience of screen based trading system of

NSE.

� It will be incorporating the upcoming concept of futures and Fixed

Deposits.

� The teams will buy and sell shares with the aim of maximizing their

net worth.

� The prices of shares will be projected on a screen with the help of

an LCD projector.

Major attractions this year!

• Its going to be BIG:

With over 50 colleges participating from DU as well as other

institutes in and around Delhi, the event will be crowd puller. The

participants from the corporate sector will add professionalism to the

game. Expected participation of more than 100 teams.

• Live NSE Market:

The simulation through Live Market using ODIN software will

transport the participants into the real market and the challenge will

leave them thrilled. The scrips traded will be from Nifty 50.

• Prizes:

A sizable amount in prizes will add to the exhilaration.

• All Over Delhi Publicity:

The event will be hugely publicized to create awareness and ensure

mass participation.

• Workshop:

A workshop will be held on the previous day of the game. The

workshop will familiarize the participants with the nuances of trading

as well as the rules of the game. It will be compulsory for all the

participants.

Audio-visual presentations, it has been proved through researches, have a

greater impact on audiences than their print counterparts. For the benefit of

visual advertisements in between breaks and sessions. The rate list for the
