Jazz Vocalist Tifany Austin A Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald Saturday, February 8, 7:30pm Bay Area jazz vocalist and composer Tiffany Austin returns to Tateuchi Hall. She appeared on the national scene in 2015 with the release of “Nothing But Soul.” With her second album, “Unbroken,” she stakes a claim as a formidable songwriter and intrepid musical explorer. The album received five stars from All About Jazz and reached #16 on Jazz Week Chart. “Unbroken” was also recognized as one of the best jazz albums in 2018 by Mercury News.
Hanzhi Wang Dazzles on the Accordion Sunday, February 16, 2:00pm Praised for her captivating stage presence and performances that are both technically and musically masterful, the groundbreaking young musician Hanzhi Wang was recently named “New Artist of the Month” by Musical America and won first prize in the 40th Castelfidardo International Accordion Competition in Italy. She was the first accordionist to win a place on the roster of Young Concert Artists in the organization's 58-year history. She will perform works by J.S. Bach, Scarlatti, Grieg and Piazzolla.

Mark Lettieri Grammy-winning Guitarist of Snarky Puppy Saturday, March 7, 7:30pmMark Lettieri, guitarist of the multi-Grammy Award winning jazz and funk collective Snarky Puppy, performs compositions from his new album with special guest musicians. In addition to his work with Snarky Puppy, Lettieri is an in-demand session guitarist and has worked with David Crosby, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Adam Levine, Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Eric Robertson, Lecrae, Lupe Fiasco, Keyshia Cole and Xzibit, just to name a few.

St. Lawrence String Quartet Sunday, April 19, 2:00pm “Modern,” “dramatic,” “superb,” “with a hint of rock ’n roll energy” are just a few ways critics have described the musical phenomenon that is the St. Lawrence String Quartet. The Quartet has made prize-winning recordings of music by Schumann, Tchaikovsky and Golijov, earning two Grammy nominations and a host of other prizes. This year marks their 30th anniversary season, celebrating new compositions alongside cornerstones of the chamber music repertoire.
Axel Schmitt The Complete Piano Sonatas of Beethoven, Part 6 Saturday, April 25, 7:30pmAxel Schmitt (CSMA faculty, piano) continues his quest to perform the complete piano sonatas of Beethoven. This is the sixth in the series of concerts leading up to the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth in December 2020. Program includes Sonata Op. 54 F Major, Sonata Op. 57 F minor “Appassionata”, Sonata Op. 78 F-sharp Major, Sonata Op. 79 G Major, Sonata Op. 81a E-flat Major “Les Adieux”.

Altea Quartet Piano Quartets of Antonín Dvořák & William Walton Saturday, June 13, 7:30pmNancy Kim (CSMA faculty, cello) and the members of her Altea Quartet perform Antonín Dvořák’s Piano Quartet No.2 in E-flat major, Op. 87 and the Piano Quartet in D minor by William Walton. Altea Quartet is based in the peninsula, and their mission is to explore the piano quartet repertoire through reinterpretations of standard pieces and the championing of new and lesser-known works.
World Harmony Chorus Monday, June 15, 7:30pmThe World Harmony Chorus brings the community together through a joyous celebration of song! This diverse choral group performs traditional vocal music from around the world, including Africa, Europe and Latin America.
Pianist Gregory Mason Mozart in Vienna Saturday, June 20, 7:30pmGregory Mason (CSMA faculty, piano) and a string quartet perform Mozart’s first Viennese piano concertos. Composed in 1782, the year after his move to Vienna, concertos K. 413 and K. 414 were performed by Mozart at his subscription concerts where he established himself as the leading pianist in the city. A number of his concertos were arranged for keyboard and string quartet, and this concert features a fortepiano for the solo role.
